Yep, the risk of an explosion with these types of ships is normally very low for that reason, a pressure wave as the gas rapidly expands and a very intense fire is far more likely. The US Sandia lab carried out a study in 2004, report here:

There could have been other operational outcomes as well. Being forced to keep less fuel on site where it was at risk, diverting resources to help protect the fuel storage etc.

Loved the attention to detail in this film (use of propane not diesel, bullet time of flight etc) as well as the genre crossing. It made you care for the characters. A breath of fresh air when so many films are derivative. And brilliantly cast!
