And done! After a month of steady writing, my latest manuscript is complete. I wrote a gothic inspired by the past. The momentum of this dark, nasty novel helped me write roughly 2k words a day.

Now for the real fun, to edit this work until it satisfies me with its impact.

Last winter, Archipelago Books held a winter sale which delivered their books to prisons throughout the U.S. Their team is always at work on something essential.

They're currently reviving the Scandinavian giant Birgitta Trotzig, with different translators for each of her works. Support them!

Open Letter Books supports translations of contemporary masters at work now! I'm thankful to receive the mixed-form of Rusana Bardarska's To Essay, which blends fiction, essay, and poetic meter in playful flight.

Do yourself a favor and grab all their Γ‰nard translations too!

Look what came in the mail! How exciting to receive book mail from the lovely presses hard at work on stellar translations.

Thanks to @openletterbooks and @archipelagobooks for sending me works they thought would be up my alley. I'll read them cozily with Moshi at my side.

I haven't published in this form ever before. I would appreciate it if you shared your thoughts on this piece. It is my hope that the language of a prophet provides new paths to take in this world.

Thank you for your time.

Hello everyone, the new year begins with my writing! The kind editors at @MinorLits have published my poetic essay, influenced by Celan and Bashō.

I wrote about the world and my place in it the only way I know how. It is something that I've spent two years editing and refining.

Year in Reading: Zachary Issenberg Grief came at us with a hammer this year. I moved across the country for work and every week there’s another bit of news from the end of the world. Through several bludgeons of change and loss, I walk...

Good morning everyone! I took part in The Millions' Year In Reading, after being such a fan for so long. I wrote about the experience of reading through change and grief, the books that delighted me.

I hope you may find a future favorite read among these!

Really fun! Every chapter is 5-11 pages and from a different narrator; the pacing matched the pitch of action. I'm surprised by how often James trusts the reader to as he does the Quentin Compson thing often.

Last book I read: A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James!
Current Read: Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward!
Next anticipated: maybe a Pynchon reread or The Night of Lead by Jahn?
Newest acquisitions: See pic related!

Writing β€” Zachary Nicholas Issenberg

Hi everyone! If you're ever on the lookout for writing about Florida that's as funny as it's terrifying, check out my fiction! I write in a few genres and styles, but if you like the work of writers Paul Beatty, Joy Williams, or Toni Morrison, try these?

One of my favorite books, films, paintings, and albums.

Hey everyone! I wanted to post my latest essay here; I got to write about one of my favorite authors, JosΓ© Donoso.
themillions.com/2023/11/jose...

I wrote about Donoso's ethics as an artist, how it contributed to his style, and how we might use this as a banner cry for a sea change in language art.
