There is a fair amount of bloody obvious in autoresearch but I think there’s going to be a lot of that as we learn how to use these tools.

Today I spent a couple of hours replicating @karpathy.bsky.social’s autoresearch harness on a weight prediction model. I’m too token restricted to leave it running overnight but might try with Qwen3.5 on my mac and see where it gets.

Yesterday I had my first online meeting where I had to verify I was human before I could join. The first company I’ve interacted with taking ai notetaker security seriously.

At the beginning of this year, Large Language Models evolved to the point where they significantly challenge many Farm Management Systems. As efficiency is commoditised they are going to have to work hard to maintain product market fit. I reckon they have <12 months.

I like Gravatar. I think it's a simple, clever idea (they've added a lot of other stuff it doesn't need over the years). There are many other scenarios that could benefit from defaults. For example, gravatar for farm maps. Update your map once, have it update everywhere.

I was hoping we'd see the new Mac Studio this month. Fingers crossed it's coming soon - I've been saving up.
Interesting coverage of Deere and pressure for the right to repair from farmers in Iowa.

Interesting open source ag robot. It’s good to see what feels like a bit more momentum in open source for agriculture.

Really good post highlighting an example of risk most people never think about (which the companies doing it rely on). What really happens to your data and what you give away when you verify yourself on LinkedIn?

Interesting stats read, particularly the impact of LLMs. I would love to see the Australian Research and Development Corporations publish similar to provide insights across industries.

Pretty crazy. I wonder how they are coordinating them? Turning civilian fishing vessels into drones is a fascinating idea.

Looks interesting. I’m a huge RSS user. Jury’s still out for me on some of the details, feed visability, oauth scopes etc but will give it a try when I get time.
The ban in Australia while problematic in several ways, is in my opinion one of the best things the govt has done in a long time.
Got some IKEA matter stuff to try today. Snuck it in the bag while Mrs S wasn’t looking. 😏
I made the below echidna explainer image using Nano Banana Pro in one shot for fun with no real aesthetic direction. The text is a bit mangled in places but the limiting factor now is really my imagination. 🦔
There’s not much I hate more than when publications post links to their paywalled articles on social media. I get it. Everyone needs to make money but my time is also worth something. If you post to social media, you create a transaction with my attention. I think i should be compensated for that.
Killian! I'll Be Back!
One of the biggest disappointments of moving abroad is that I can’t go to things like Interesting anymore and hang out with my friends. Glad (and not surprised) it was awesome.
Trying to convince my son to delete Fortnite off his XBox so I can play the new Doom.
Negotiations are ongoing and possibly heading to BATNA.
Of course the best time to decide to start going for a daily sunrise swim is at the end of summer 🤣🥶
Also new glasses FTW!
My commonplace notebook.
I find that vibe coding works very well when coupled with good application design. Small functions, separation of concerns etc. Software Engineering basics still apply.
@wesbos.com - they made it! YYZ -> SYD Thank you!
Using Generative AI we can do so many new things but simple interactions like this erode trust. Which is it 2021 or 2024? (it's 2024)
I’m in my 40s now and all I can say is that the idea of a hacker house sounds horrendous.
Every time I read about laser scarecrows now I just hear Jack Black singing - ch, ch, chicken! La, la, lava… 🐥🌋🍗 😋
It seems like it’s still possible in 2025 for a decent sum of money to go missing when a web payment form fails. 🤬😭
Migraine coming on. Day officially ruined and it’s not even 9am.
Subtle mode in the latest @zed.dev release is very welcome. Great job all.
