I tried the diving tablet in the shower but then I stopped having shower thoughts, so that was a wash :-(

Nextdoor post by [redacted]: “I think we are over building these things. I understand rents have come down significantly in many of them. We own student rents and charge affordable rents that are now competing with those high rises so that we as independent landlords are having trouble getting tenants in our houses. We have enough high rises, please.”
You love to see it #A2Council.
In 2022 (back when #Twitter was still a thing), I had made this #meme about the state of #urban #climate #research based on an #xkcd comic.
With all the recent changes in the #publication and #funding spaces due to the #AI + #machinelearning hype cycle, here is an updated version.

“…significantly reduced the rate at which BART service crews have had to clean up vandalism and what the agency internally refers to as ‘very large messes’…cleanup that generally requires staff to pull in larger bins and different types of cleaning products. The data, Trost said, was ‘shocking’.”
This is a *really* excellent explanation / discussion on the housing bill package currently being discussed in Lansing www.nathanbiller.com/blog/housing...
If I ever get rich I’ll pay to restart the 76x, maybe the best bus route in the nation

“is there a technology that the left is excited about?”
Yes, but this kind of smart, energy efficient, all-electric, heat generating machine is illegal in the US and Canada.
here's a python rewrite of a small but powerful tool by @juho.snellman.net that has saved me many hours over the years.
ported to python to make it a bit easier to install in my typical workflow, and i also made some adjustments for ergonomics.
Grosssssss. This is white feminism in a nutshell. “Oh the concentration camp is okay because women work there.” DO YOU HEAR YOURSELF?
i'm new to "design", and the lesson i unexpectedly keep learning over and over is that the UI should actually reflect the data model. when i try to hide the underlying model fearing it would be confusing, it actually ends up way more confusing and cause contradictions than if i had just embraced it
The feeling after being sick is pretty good and a nice reminder.
I hope you feel better soon!
I wish Postgres had this feature: www.elastic.co/docs/trouble...
"95% flood-stage: Elasticsearch sets all indices on the affected node(s) to read-only. The write block is automatically removed once disk usage on the affected node falls below the high watermark."
What could go wrong!?

That’s …. definitely more nickels than I realized! But why have a giant warehouse if you can’t fill it with VHS tapes??
I forgot all about those! Still so glad you were able to get ‘em.
It’s basically solved this ask 😬😬😬

I feel like this storm they did a decent job, but the one before I was like… hey wait, I pay property taxes and yall didn’t do nothing. And I say this as someone who walks and bikes 80% of my trips!!
It would load the table in decent time! But it was stuck in a loop where it would then load it again, and again, and again.
(Different from the Database Manager, which can take 10-20 seconds to get table details, even for modest tables in the ~1-200,000 record range)
It beachballs when you click on a single table name in the database manager :-(
(These are not big tables!)
I love QGIS and I'm trying to get our sponsorship renewed. But for heaven's sake it could not be a worse experience to load a single Postgres table. It is currently loading the same table over and over and over again, a blocking activity, so the whole thing is locked out

Man I miss listening to the Longform podcast.
It’s ok tho Tom it’ll have dropped ~10 degrees in the next hour!
Only a couple degrees off the record high 😬
Haven’t been in a minute!! But biking was way more fun! I think I’m mostly thinking of my encounters with our poor versions over here. I dislike arguing on the internet :-(
Yes! IMO it does it by inconveniencing the bikes, rather than the device doing the hooking, the car. I’d love it if we could make the car wiggle, not the bikes!
