today at the World Metaphors Classic the leader of the USA didn't bother to find out the details of the situation his team was in and blindly assumed they would win a matchup they ended up losing, jeopardizing their long-term standing for no good reason

Part of the reason "Breaking Bad" is one of the greatest TV shows of all time is that its central thesis, which feels true, is that there is a monster inside all human beings, and given the chance to come out, it will, indeed, come out.

Anyway, here's an article about a Let the Monster Out Factory.

Had some fun overlaying Q4’21-Q4’22 (my current market comp to this market) and I definitely don’t see it.

And markets still fell 20%+ after that point….

All led to 20%+ more of a drawdown after, especially if you isolate the June β€˜20 period from the COVID Crash.

My working theory, even more after today and the last couple weeks, is that we’re in a similar market environment to β€˜22.

πŸ‘€The federal judges in West Virginia, where ICE has been pulling over and detaining people on the freeway, are literally screaming about ICE's tactics.

One of the reasons I am strongly bearish on the growth / onboarding prospects of the industry.

Maybe this is about central banks. Maybe it’s about inflation hedges. Maybe it’s about masked agents of the state shooting unarmed US citizens 10 times in the back β€” and we still don’t know who, or where, they are.

The govt lying about the killing of a U.S. citizen at the hands of the state, is by itself, a front page a story, worthy of drumbeat coverage, resignations, and impeachments.

Not exactly apples to apples, but I’d expect many more cracks in private credit to develop soon.

Starting out my career as a Lev Fin Investment Banker definitely helped prep me for this market…

Coming from a PM who has very similar views to you, I think a lot of it has to do with recency bias and the wealth effect that has come from that for themselves, combined with an unwillingness to accept the fact that the lower-middle income consumer is surviving on BNPL/Credit in a weak labor market

I don't know if this needs to be said or not but "elected official assassinated in their home" is simply not a thing that happens in this country. 1825, 1889, 1893, 1973. Those are all the ones I can find, ever, before today.

If I were the owner of the @washingtonpost.com, I would not do a deal with the people who dismembered my columnist. Seems like a low bar, but Bezos managed to not clear yet another one. The world is awash in capital and that this is the choice should tell you all.
