GWRC are to increase Metlink fares by 3.1% and drop the off peak rate to 20%. This, coupled with the proposed Total Mobility changes is just infuriating. And don't get me started on the possible changes when they rebuild the Waterloo transport hub - stairs, lifts, no ramps. Sigh.
My take on the NZ Cricket vs new competition- as always it's about the money- 'grass roots won't suffer' - which is disingenuous at best. As someone who remembers the Kerry Packer years, you can't tell me there's no 'what's in it for me' at play for current and ex players. They should be truthful.

I was lucky- I was always treated as normal- aside from the teasing about my surgical boots. They were lovely to wear to primary school- not!
As someone who remembers both 'special' schools and 'special' classes, it's a step back about 40 years.
They also want to restrict the ability and choices of disabled people with signalled changes to the Mobility Card scheme. We are going backwards and as someone who is disabled, it saddens me.

I spent some of my lunch time today trying to work out what my 'extra' payment for water will be from July, since it's now separate from Council rates. Cue exercise in futility in trying to find info about it - including payment options- sigh.
Have submitted my 'survey' about the proposed changes to the Total Mobility service. One of my comments was that public transport is currently subsidised as well but able bodied people don't have to justify their reasons for travel when they currently use it.

First time this year sitting outside in the sun with a t shirt- no cardigan, sweatshirt or jumper in sight- birds singing, mug of tea and reading a great book by @standupmaths.bsky.social - spring is wearing it's best clothes today.
Have discovered this weekend that the NZ company who makes my favourite mint sauce has stopped making it. Why? Because they were bought out [read hostile takeover] by Kraft! I know it's a small thing- but it was really well made and it's one way I gave myself a treat now and then - sigh.
Self pity rant: I have another cold - have spent two days in bed but the cough is again the main problem and is dire - it went for weeks last time and I am already over it!

Miracles of miracles, I finally got around to dusting, but before anyone gets too excited, I only dust as high as I can reach, and if you know me, then you know it's not very high 🤣. A friend once gave me a fridge magnet 'Dust test in progress, do not disturb the samples.' I love dusting- not 😂
So after over 15 years as a Sky TV subscriber, I have cancelled it. Of course I have to wait a month for disconnection quelle surprise! But have already unplugged everything [that was fun?!] Can use the extra money for fun [power bills, butter, stuff like that 😂] which isn't really a joke is it? 😀
