don’t believe it. Bc for much of my life when I have believed it or, especially, enabled it and brushed it off, it hurt me deeply. Like messed me up for life deep, gotta kintsugi those cracks type of deep.

As an allistic person w/ a likely-autistic parent who was verbally abusive, this has been a large barrier for me in my ability to connect w autistic ppl. When I’ll sense a tone is meant 1 way, and am told it’s not (with no “why did it make you feel that way?” or clarification), I instinctively

Reading the Wiki, there was progress made in some fronts on that. Basically the institution of the BMNH is rotten and there are individuals inside it working to do restitution and try to do some right (and British laws are wild in how they prevent attempts at restitution…)

I saved some of the first snow we got this fall to offer to Earth this winter solstice. I’m happy I did. Next year I’m going to write something more formal to say with my first snow offering. This year I said a stream of consciousness as I poured the water on the ground. Which is fine, but yeah ❄️🌞❄️

At least I think I started to learn about the dark beginnings of anthropology in the 200 level courses, maybe it was the 300 tho 🤔
It’s dark bc anthropology was invented for colonization. It’s being shifted into decolonial work now

Anyway, still get that major! There are MANY ppl shifting the field into a liberatory direction, & I’m proud to have had them as my professors. If ur uni’s anth dept is responsible, you’ll learn lots of dark history. If you’re not learning abt it as u get into the 200/300+ lvl courses, big red flag

I swear, if I’m remembering correctly, the British Museum of Natural History did a private gala many years ago (but def after the 80’s) where the theme was *literally* colonizing Africa
