Hornsea Mere 31st May, ringed Osprey over my head. Turns out to be Gilshiel, (1B7), a 2 year old male from Kielder, was seen in Senegal in the winter and this is it's first sighting in the UK since fledging.
Very happy with that news.

Arguably the worst photos of Rail-babbler ever, but boy did they make me smile after 6 days looking for it in Taman Negara, Malaysia. A celebratory muffin in the forest was in order. Then Malaysian Blue-banded Kingfisher on the walk back... A good sweaty day done..
That juvenile has grown since I saw them

Tough, but rewarding, day catching up with Turquoise-throated Barbet at Khao Luang N.P. (Poor photos due to height of trees and inaccessibility of viewing) !! This bird is restricted to a very small area of central peninsula Thailand. Easier was a Spotted Wood Owl before dusk two days ago
A mega fix of Nicobar Pigeons on the Similan Islands, southern coastal Thailand, today. The last one appears to have had it's nails done for us too ..... Great day, great birds.
Green Broadbill was an unexpected first new bird on our South-east Asia trip, plus one and a half Gould's Frogmouths and a male Large Blue Flycatcher made for a good morning at Sri Phang Na N.P. in Thailand
Stu, if you visit the IOC website you can download an excel spreadsheet of current world list and then search any species, whether split or lumped, with notes in the margins of taxanomic history
Does anyone know how to set Bluesky so it opens where you left off and doesn't zip to the most recent post.
Therefore having to scroll backwards.
It's infuriating !!!
