24 January 2026 Alex Pretti, 37 of Minneapolis Alex Pretti, an intensive care unit nurse for a veterans affairs hospital, was fatally shot by federal agents during an anti-ICE protest in . He was trying to help a woman who had been pushed to the ground by ICE agents when he was tackled, beaten, restrained and shot to death. Photo of Alex Pretti
On Monday, February 2nd, from 5 to 6 p.m., please join our friends in the nursing community on the walkway in front of the Vermont State House for a solemn vigil. Help us honor Alex Pretti and all the nurses who make such a difference in everyone's lives. Bring candles and dress warmly!
Died in ICE Custody / Were Killed by ICE * Many “died by apparent suicide,” or were “suddenly unresponsive.” * How many internal injuries were from detainment and/or violence in the prisons themselves, and how many of them were from guards? * One is even thought to be a homicide from compression to the chest and neck. * We have seen footage of how violent ICE goons are, and how they are taking people down. * Several people who died had been previously accused of crimes, but they had done their time and were trying to lead their lives. They were not accused of new crimes. * A few were reported detoxing. * One man, an Iman, was convicted of fraud, but family and friends think that he may not have understood the application entirely. In almost all the cases, medical neglect seems apparent. Many families report that the detainees were healthy before going to prison/detention centers. None are listed as having been served judicial warrants.
