So the real actual estimate of Hinkley Point C investment cost is €58 billion. That's €18,000 per kW.
Two of those for the Netherlands (the equivalent of the four new nuclear power plants considered of 1.6 GW each) would then require €115 billion, to be put up by a new state-owned energy company.
Costs of Hinkley Point C could have been even higher if not for EDF charging £1.6 billion to the parallel Sizewell C nuclear project for sharing expertise gained from Hinkley, helping to mitigate similar issues and delays.

7/7 Short: the #US gives its citizens 30 days to say "are you blind and stupid?" Populism is dangerous in very many ways.
6/7 Also, DOE obviously has lost its view on the non-US world and appears not to notice what has happened lately in Ukraine and Iran, and what the consequences of that could be for any nuclear reactor - existing or new design.
5/7 It is very clear: this #US administration tries to undo checks and balances put into place because of bad experiences in the past, in order to "speed things up".
This will inevitably result in a next severe accident down the line at some time. Woe to the people and environment then impacted.
4/7 How do you know there is no significant affect on the environment (and EIAs are not only about *human* environment, but also the natural one), when no EIA is made? Just a reminder: the EIA is meant to assess this. There is no other procedure in place.
3/7 Where are those prototypes, when these designs have not been built and tested before? Some predecessors to some designs may be seen as "prototypes", but were made many decades ago and unsuccessful. Do they count?
2/7 ..."normally does not significantly affect the quality of the human environment and therefore does not require preparation of an environmental assessment or environmental impact statement". And there would be "prototypes of advanced nuclear technologies"...
