It will be interesting to assess in a few years wheter the legititmate uses of new machine learning techniques in science outweigh the damages they do.

Cool paper:

"Humans 40,000 y ago developed a system of conventional signs"

(It may or may not be writing, I guess)

That Americans name one of their weapons "Tomahawk" says a lot, doesn't it?

I'm pretty sure that it isn't just me. It is interesting that the fun part is drawing or coming up with answers, not writing a prompt.

I'd argue that creating something and coming up with answers is what humans like to do, we should not alienate ourselves from this.

Swiss German is mainly just shortened German words so we don't have to talk so fast πŸ˜‰

Yeah, in Switzerland it's a bit of a class thing as well... I use fressen fairly broadly

10.03.2026 17:09 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I actually don't know how to translate Fressen into English... it's from Brecht's "zuerst kommt das Fressen, dann kommt die Moral"... It's roughly "first comes eating then come the morals", but "eating" is not exactly "fressen"

Well, my spoken German is also slowly reverting to Swiss German because I don't speak it often anymore

Nobel laureate Joe Stiglitz says not only can AI take your job, it’ll make the β€˜tech bro’ class richer while doing so | Fortune β€œUnfortunately, the tech bros, who are obviously advocates of this, are at the same time pushing for smaller government,” Stiglitz told Fortune.

This bank-approved economist is onto something big... 😁

I swear, contemporary Keynesians are like the sloths in Zootopia, next they'll discover that crises can't be avoided through demand management.
