Another very rarely kept species from Landau Zoo, the northern Luzon giant could rat (Phloeomys pallidus) from the island of Luzon, Philippine Islands. This huge mouse reaches weights of 1,9-2,4 kg and has a striking pattern. Sadly they suffer locally heavily from overhunting.
