Again, one of these days i gotta put my money where my mouth is and actually look and figure out the source code (although learning how to properly create an application to begin with may be a good idea

I'm feeling very optimistic about ATProto, and wish I had a goof way to learn of alternative parts of the bsky stack as well as of the wider Atmosphere.

I felt this already and it's just stronger now, I think ATProto (BASED ON THE SURFACE KNOWLEDGE I HAVE) improves upon ActivityPub in many ways

After thinking about what @metaflame.dev said I don't think my opinion about Bluesky has changed much. I don't want to be alarmist but I still can't shake the feeling that it's going to go bad and to have a plan B at the ready.

House centipedes (Scutigera coleoptrata) are our friends and don't deserve this slander! Other centipedes give them a bad reputation by association.

I started this long ago but only recently finished it... I had to draw fan art of the new dinosaur!

This is Mexidracon longimanus, discovered in Mexico and named last year!

For the first time ever, I've got a clear idea of what I want, and it's semi-original so it doesn't really have any expectations to live up to other than the ones I make up myself!

Dang. So, to have my own domain I either pay a fortune (for me, relatively) for a static ip at home or rent someone else's computer

If course I do game dev, although I've never finished anything

School has failed me, I have no idea how anything about jobs works

You know what, I might consider trying to actually run all those myself (separately) and actually see with my own eyes. I do know that ATProto is more sophisticated than AP, and I like its general structure more on a conceptual level.

I do stand by my opinion though that the codebase, at least for the mainline Bluesky app, is not very good. It is buggy and very slow.

However I can't say I'm as knowledgeable as I'd like to be on this topic, considering I'm still a very inexperienced programmer.

I'm still a little skeptical on the topic of the protocol, since I keep hearing that, especially the significant parts that would make an instance truly independent, are too demanding to run for most people. About enshittification idk I'm just kinda paranoid, bsky has been great but I still feel on-
