In 2025, April Woodhouse, 50, died in hospital after her body was found lying at the doorstep of a home in the Pinaymootang First Nation in northern Manitoba.
Her body was bruised and part of her pinky missing. Woodhouse was a mother of four and grandmother of 10.

On January 6, 2025, 72-year-old Shirley Gabbert, was killed by her son Andrew's mother, dead from a gunshot injury in the house.
Shirley was a Supervisory Aide at Ronceverte Elementary.

According to the UN, femicides are the most brutal & extreme manifestation of violence against women & girls. This occurs in a multitude of forms & places: home, workplaces, school, public, online spaces; includes intimate partner violence, sexual harassment & other forms of violence & trafficking.
Just after the start of the New Year, we gathered to remember the 2000 girls and women who were lost to #FEMICIDE this past year in the United States. There are five femicides a day in this country; murders which are most commonly committed by the family members or intimate partners of the victims.

Celeste Rivas, 13, disappeared in April 2024.
This month she was discovered severely decomposed at a Hollywood tow yard in an abandoned Tesla registered to rising singer D4vd.
She was from Lake Elsinore in California and would now be 15.
