I didn't used to mind March snow. But what's really getting to me is the rain/snow slop that turns sidewalks into skating rinks. Walking the dog is something I usually enjoy, but not in these conditions.
I've lived in the northern US my entire life, and used to love winter, but I'm losing that love.
Shame on you, NBC4 washington.
Night view:
After countless hours this winter and more than 9,000 pieces. We have achieved Lego Titanic.
Sometimes I'm too lazy to block. :) But I at least don't follow back.
Yeah, I'm seeing this a lot. I get followed by people whose feeds are definitely suspect.
They are in deep denial over there at Target HQ.
Starting the week with this fine brew from Minocqua Brewing:
Don't feel bad! We need all the blue skies we can get!
So much ICE out there today in South Minneapolis. Theyβre prowling around harassing schools.
Stay frosty, friends
I confess to following a woman at a grocery store who was bald with a gorgeous floral head tattoo. I could do that. If I weren't so wimpy.
I'd kinda like to shave my head, but the default public assumption is that a bald woman has cancer and is undergoing chemo.
If you're researching queer history in England, farm records might be one of the last places you'd check.
Yet for #LGBTQHistoryMonth, @timjerrome.bsky.social shares how he's tracing queer histories within our farm archives, and gives tips for future research.

Chapter 1 of Moby Dick, page 1 The phrase βCall me Ishmaelβ, the first sentence of the book, is highlighted in blue, with careful highlighting on the very big C at the start. Above this, written in ballpoint pen βHis nameβ
Love the glimpse into the beautiful mind that notated this used copy of Moby Dick I got
Yes, and self confidence.
Fun fact: Seattle restaurants banded together and raised more than $100k for MN restaurants last month. And a WA yarn store donated red yarn to St. Paul's The Yarnery.
I enjoyed this so much! I can read all the entries through 1300 without difficulty (I still read Chaucer for pleasure), can parse 1200 with some effort, and after that itβs picking out stray words and phrases.
Ah, OK. Thanks!
Where was the op ed? I didn't see it in the Strib.
Well, heck, here's a distraction from {all this}: The Rea family wedding photo from December, when our wonderful son married a wonderful woman and we all showed up looking our best.
And spoke at his inauguration last year. Yup, that one.
No, my intention in telling people is to help others who feel the same way know they're not alone. And lol, not at all interested in fitting in socially. I wouldn't post about anything political at all if that was my goal.
Ditto. I'm definitely not a fan of Amy Klobuchar, but if she's the gubernatorial candidate, I'll vote for her.
If I wrote a novel set in MN during Jan/Feb, and the primary plot point was the occupation of the state by ICE agents, and I included tons of descriptions of frozen water and how dangerous the roads/sidewalks are, I suspect some editor would (rightfully) smack me upside the head for being obvious.
So good
You are really blind to reality, aren't you?
LOL. I can still horrify my adult offspring by using the phrase "squad goals."
