Happy 52nd birthday to Bobby Abreu. Abreu was at times one of the best players in the game during an 18-year career spent mostly with the Phillies. He was a 2-time AS, GG and SS recipient and winner of the 2005 Home Run Derby. He played just 92 games with the Dodgers in 2012.
Happy 38th birthday to Pedro Báez. Báez lived several different lives with the Dodgers. He started off as a 3rd base prospect before being shifted to pitcher. Then after some bad moments in relief he was not popular but he eventually became a fan favorite. Quite the ride.

Happy 68th birthday to the late Steve Howe. Howe’s personal battles are well documented but his early impact on the Dodgers was undeniable. A 1st round draft pick by LA in 1979, he was NL ROY in 1980, got the final out of the WS in 1981, and was an AS in 1982.
Today in 1983, former Dodgers skipper Walt Alston is elected to the HOF by the Veterans Committee. Alston won over 2,000 games and 4 WS during his 23 years in both Brooklyn and LA. He will be inducted in July alongside Brooks Robinson, Juan Marichal, and George Kell.

Thanks to your support on Friday, Thea got the first surgery she needed to correct her leg deformity! She’s now sporting the cutest pink cast, signed with love by her surgical team. She still has another surgery ahead of her, but is well on her way to walking comfortably again ❤️🩹

Happy 114th birthday to the late, great Arky Vaughan. Vaughan is a HOFer because of his 10 years with Pittsburgh, where he was a batting champ, 8-time AS, and led the NL in runs twice and triples 3 times. He was an AS and played in the 1947 WS in his 4 seasons with the Dodgers.
Happy 63rd birthday to Terry Mulholland. Mulholland played for 11 different teams over a 20-year career in which he threw a no-hitter (1990), was named an AS (1993), and appeared in 2 WS (1993 and 1999). All of that occurred, though, before he spent 2 seasons with the Dodgers.
Happy 47th birthday to Koyie Hill. Hill was a top prospect with the Dodgers but played only 3 games with LA as he was stuck behind Paul Loduca. He was traded to Arizona as part of the Steve Finley deal in 2004 and ultimately enjoyed an 11-year MLB career, mostly with the Cubs.
Happy 43rd birthday to Willy Aybar. Aybar is part of a baseball family as his brother Erick played in the big leagues. He made his MLB debut in 2005 with the Dodgers and played 69 games with LA over 2 seasons before finishing his MLB career with the Braves and Rays.
I'm curious (but not enough to go research it, work today was 8 hours of Excel already) what is MLB's ratio of batter vs pitcher initiated challenges so far.
