As someone who volunteers at a historic cemetery, take from me these rules of thumb re: cleaning gravestones.
1) ALWAYS ASK FOR PERMISSION FIRST
2) ONLY use an approved cleaning chemical like D2 biological solution.
3) NEVER use a wire brush or other abrasive tool.
This is very important and a major pet peeve of mine. If you don’t know what you’re doing- and if you learned on the internet, then sorry, you don’t know what you’re doing- please leave old gravestones well enough alone.

I had an intense seemingly never ending nightmare last night where I accidentally stumbled into a Republican convention while they were violently purging people. I kept trying to duck away and escape and my legs wouldn’t move as masked men were pulling people away screaming.
