IHLYI looks forward to strengthening this partnership, advancing nuclear disarmament, and empowering youth in global security efforts β building a safer and more humane future. πβ¨
A particularly memorable moment: taking a photo with the Nobel Peace Prize, awarded to @nuclearban.bsky.social
in 2017 for its global efforts to stigmatise, prohibit, and eliminate nuclear weapons. π
This partnership comes at a time of growing political and security challenges in the region, emphasizing the urgent need for global & regional cooperation to reduce escalation risks and protect civilians. @nuclearban.bsky.social
The discussion explored ways to:
β’Strengthen youth and civil society roles in nuclear disarmament
β’Highlight humanitarian consequences of #nuclearweapons
β’Coordinate advocacy within international and multilateral spaces
On 4 March 2026, our team held a joint roundtable meeting with @nuclearban.bsky.social
to discuss a shared advocacy strategy on nuclear disarmament, focusing on the Middle East & North Africa #MENA region.
We are excited to announce that the IHLYI
has signed a partnership with the @nuclearban.bsky.social

Young people in the region deserve peace not more war.
Amid rising tensions between #Iran and #Israel and positions associated with the #US we reaffirm that the protection of civilians is a legal obligation that cannot be ignored Security cannot be built through bombardment but through respect for #IHL and protection of human life
Escalating hostilities in the #MiddleEast are putting civilians at grave risk and undermining the future of young people across the region Youth are paying the price for conflicts they did not start while their access to safety education employment and dignity continues to erode.
