Don’t think I’ve ever heard a Republican insist that their base commit to nonviolence. All I remember is them cheering anti-abortion terrorists, people who talked about “2nd amendment solutions” and sovereign citizens. This culminated in Jan. 6 and they have created a bespoke reality to justify it
