Great to have our monthly 'Plant Science chat' gathering this week, short updates from across topics and experience levels in Plant Biology @lancasteruni.bsky.social
We had exciting updates from 3 PhD researchers ranging from seed priming, Rubisco inhibition, to seagrass photosynthesis.

Monoaxial growth and pseudo-dichotomous branching in Paulownia saplings and mature trees. Photographs showing (a) monoaxial growth in saplings and (b) the terminal bud dies in winter, and the lateral bud near the top forms a pair of lateral branches, and the growth of the stem exhibits pseudo-dichotomous branching. One of the two pseudo-dichotomous branches is often stronger (red arrow) than the other (black arrow). In Paulownia fortunei, the former grows upwards in the direction of the main stem and thus contributes to the extension of the stem, while the latter gradually dies back due to light/nitrogen/water competition. Panel (c) shows two balanced branches in Paulownia tomentosa, which limits the extension of the main stem.

Fantastic to have @tinaschreier.bsky.social here this week for a visit and super seminar this afternoon. Amazing science and images of plasmodesmata, unravelling new things about C4 to help our fundamental understanding and identify ways to improve photosynthesis in key crops. Thanks Tina!

🌱✍️ We truly think that the Editorial Internship programme is a fantastic way to gain editorial experience, learn more about science publishing, network, and grow as a researcher.

But don’t take our word for it – see what our past interns have to say!
