Not my favourite ever visit to Goodison Park... (that would probably be either Ebanks-Blake's late equaliser in 2011, or Dendoncker wrapping up the 3-1 in 2019)

My first ever football match, way back in 1991, was at Goodison Park. Very sad to be here for (probably) the final time

Just 2 potential things on this - believe Wolves have a 1 year option on his deal, and Angers have a 50% sell on

There are currently only 22 films streaming on Netflix made before 1980 and not a single one made before 1960, with the oldest film on the platform currently being PSYCHO. I know I’m a broken record but: buy physical media, support your local library, etc etc

Lyon. Wow.

Handed a provisional relegation to Ligue 2 unless finances improve. Debt level reportedly at €508m!

Wondering why other clubs are being hesitant to join BlueSky as well. Surely a few would like to be the first in the PL to join?

Match of the Day: The Culture Wars People are already getting themselves over the very possibility of Alex Scott hosting Match of the Day. Now, why could that possibly be?

Gary Lineker going from Match of the Day being announced in the week between Remembrance Sunday and an England vs Ireland match was almost too culture wars on the nose, but hey, there was a brown-skinned woman they could get angry at, so you know.

Analysing Money’s Effect on Football Using Multilevel Regression – Paul Johnson What if I told you that we can use statistics to laugh at the silly football teams too?

I recently wrote a blog post about the impact of clubs’ financial resources on football outcomes.

The TL;DR is that the rich stay winning (shocking, I know), but I thought I’d put together a little thread of some of the findings because Always Be Posting.

Dwight Howard's NFT project flops
NBA star Dwight Howard is clearly at least a year (probably two) late to the time when celebrities and star athletes could drop some low-effort NFTs and sell out the whole batch immediately. After announcing his "Ballers" project on January 20, offering 3,000 NFTs for a mint price of 2 AVAX (~$60) apiece, he only managed to sell about 300 of them within a day or so.
After the dismal launch, Howard tried a few somewhat desperate-seeming moves to try to attract interest in the project: promising to send free crypto to some holders, redoing all the art after criticism of its quality, and slashing the NFT supply to 1,500. Despite all that, only 465 NFTs have sold (15% of the original supply, netting Howard 930 AVAX β€” around $28,400).

The flop was so bad that a member of the team behind the Avalanche blockchain put out a tweet distancing themselves from the project, stating that they didn't even know about the project until he announced it. "Gone are the days that individuals/Brands with large followings can just drop IP related NFTs out of nowhere and expect it to do well," they wrote, seemingly criticizing Howard's approach by writing that NFT creators must "mak[e] sure to do it in an organic way with proper intentions."

Self-plagiarism is a thing for students. Essentially, you can't earn credit for the same work in multiple assignments.
For academics, it's annoying if you want to mention something not yet published (e.g. currently under review). But if it is already published, you just cite it like any reference

One day, people will realise that hosting sports events is expensive. And moreso at a time when funding for councils is at an all time low. www.bbc.com/news/article...
