The logistics, the regulations, the public service workers. Just millions of spoiled, coddled assholes living off a world that functions with no thought from them. Everything is easy for them, so they're flabbergasted when the solutions are not

Cool work reps, might have been good to complain about ticket pricing BEFORE they sold
Simultaneous adoption of the generally same dumb idea suggests reading from the same bad consultant advice
Fitting (pun-intended) that they're too stupid to just buy the same shoes in the correct size and swap them out
Seemingly inevitable since the strikes but still so so sad www.theguardian.com/football/202...
Read up and down the thread, but wanted to highlight the EJ component
Just horsing around 🤗#MondayFunday
this is basically how gen-x ended up the way we have [derogatory]
For the same $6 trillion cost, you could crush child poverty with a child allowance and free childcare, fix unemployment insurance, do paid family, sick & medical leave, massively boost ACA subsidies, and eliminate child uninsurance with Medicare for Kids.
Explosion emoji with a grimacing face
This strikes me as the kind of dumb policy that sounds good that politicians run on secure in the knowledge that the opposition party will never let them pass it.
Which sounds good until you manage to convince your voters that actually the dumb policy is not dumb and then you become Republicans.
Looking for Rhode Islanders
wearing my women in stem t-shirt on international women’s day to celebrate the fact that i was given that and a reusable water bottle instead of equal pay
We have an RNA-seq workshop including de novo transcriptome assembly/annotation coming up. Ideal for organisms without reference genomes.
Trump with Luis Suárez lurking behind him
New "Trump Neck Rash" theory just dropped
Jayme Lawson from Sinners hit the nail on the head and said how I felt with the whole BAFTAs situation.
I am convinced that this is driven at least in part by the Rhode Island Disney industrial complex, which seems to be about the only place Rhode Islanders like to travel
Because Rhode Island is an absolutely ridiculous state with a week off of school in both February and April, the schools have to apply for a special waiver to prevent my kid being in school till the fourth week in June after this storm!

"I thought the joke was distasteful & unfortunate, & I think the way women are represented, it's a great teaching point to really shine light on how women should be championed for their amazing feats. Now I have to sit in front of you and explain someone else's behavior? It's not my responsibility."
Hilary Knight got the question re: that phone call and the laughter at the Torrent presser. Her answer:
Exeter plows have been by three times now I think. Though they took my mailbox out on the first pass, so...
One thing we don’t do well, societally or interpersonally, is digest harms when there really isn’t anyone to blame.
Being called a n*gger on international television in front of your peers is a harm.
Having a disability that creates that harm through no choice of your own is a harm.
I think our city should be talking about this more.

Bro, your work isn't a movie! Also, posters aren't for you to display your brilliant complete story, they're for students and others to present works in progress and have a good venue for discussion
Omfg Jeff, this caught my eye too this morning! This discourse is so dumb every time, and I feel like it's at least 75% faculty who are at heart complaining that posters don't give them enough spotlight. The thread I saw this morning compared their work to a movie and a poster to a crappy trailer...
Big fan of the lab group wide time out and cleaning/reorg party, with pizza and/or milkshakes afterwards. Always feels productive but not focused on the experiments
I don’t really pay attention to charges of doomerism. I don’t know what it means offline.
I do know that refusing a version of how the future will unfold forecloses on the power that actually shapes that future. That’s not disavowing that tech changes are happening but they are in now a given.
