She's an indie darling barely scraping by. He's trying to move beyond his past. Tossed into a movie that demands intimacy they navigate awkward rehearsals & past experiences. But falling for each other? Definitely not on the script

Book cover reveal with a pink backdrop. The cover itself has a yellow background featuring two teenage girls. The girl on the left is Indian-American with long brown hair and wears clothes in the colors of the bi flag, while the girl on the right is a redhaired white girl in a cheerleading costume in the colors of the pan flag. The main text reads "As Long As You Loathe Me" with flames coming out of it. Below that is the text "Author of Match Me If You Can, Swati Hegde." On the bottom of the cover reveal graphic is the text "Coming out March 31, 2026"
I know Pride Month is technically over, but Iโm still thrilled to share with you the cover of my debut queer YA romance, As Long As You Loathe Me, which is pitched as Mean Girls x Never Have I Ever with vibes of "Do I hate her or do I want to kiss her?" ๐

I am trying to write after 3 long years since I last wrote a novel. And it's going so badly ๐
Instead of words, garbage comes out. I thought after all these years, I will get better at writing but I'm getting worse due to burnout ๐ญ
I don't even know what to do ๐ช

Details such as dog barking incessantly, gasoline smell, soap suds evoke so much of anxiety and horror in the story. The prose is precise and sharp. I urge you all to read it and let it stay with you for a while

With the sparse prose filled with 'minor details', this book was hard to read as Israษl still continues to withhold food supplies of Palestinians, in the ongoing genocฤฑde. The book is painful and searing and something that will stay with you for a long time. 3/

The book examines at the past and present both. One year after the Nakba, Israelฤฑ soldiers rapษ and mรผrder a Bedouin teenage girl and bury her in the sand. Years later, a woman becomes obsessed with this 'minor detail' as the incident occurred on her birthday. 2/

For #asianreadathon theme: Read a book written by an Asian author thatโs nonfiction and/or political.
I picked Minor Detail by Adania Shibli, trans Elizabeth Jaquette. Nominated for International Booker Prize in 2021, the book is searing and painful and left me speechless 1/

I have heard that tteokbokki is not a good entry to Korean food especially for Indians who are used to certain foods. Is it true? Was the tteokbokki good? Can I dive into it first? ๐

I highly recommend this novel and definitely looking forward to the sequel. Despite its issues, The Legend of Meneka is an enjoyable read. And if you are in the mood for a good romantasy inspired by Indian mythology, pick this one up.

Meneka and Kaushika have their own vulnerabilities and their paths and most of all, faced with doubts and obstacles at every step which is what feels more real. 15/

She understands how Indian mythology characters do not fit the mould of the western, rigid binary. That our gods are more a reflection of our world and ourselves in a way than magnanimous beings who know everything. 14/

I am also glad that the treatment of the story was handled with care and nuance by Rao. At the hands of any other writer, the story have faltered and would have been a regurgitation of the same old problematic trope. 13/

I also wonder what would the story look like if Rao had stuck to the storyline where Kaushika loses his cool and curses her. But I prefer this version. 12/

The novel left me wanting for more. Some more angst and romance, well everything. I heard the book as an audio book and though the narrator was of Indian origin, some of the pronunciation was terrible. 11/
