It happens! Sounds like you saw one of the local bears in Gatlinburg. We live in a more rural area but have bears around the house from about mid March thru early December
That's a particularly red striped rainbow trout for the Smokies! Most usually have a blend of purple, pink and even yellow in the mix

The end of the bulk of our guide season. Probably a few afternoon half day trips from now through February if conditions permit, but we resume our full day schedules in March.
