69/ I agree. Impact of Iran war is STRUCTURAL shift to electrification stack. Read Lauri's thread: "The real, lasting effect of the 2021-22 fossil fuel crisis was a major acceleration in solar that pushed coal down *faster* than the pre-crisis trendline in the following years." x.com/laurimyllyvi...

Good example; suggests that what gets counted as "technology" has a big impact on answers to this question. How about agrivoltaics?
Personally I'm very excited about innovation in carbon-sequestering perennial ag from places like @savannainstitute.bsky.social. Is that technology?

Is it just me or are many people misinterpreting what he said? Pretty clear his point was about relative desirability (considering cost/time/hassle/etc) and not strictly cost. How much energy are you investing to replicate a halal cart meal?
Still reasonable to dispute that take of course...

I don't question the core premise of the article. But list price shouldn't be confused for some iron measure of value. In our market it was widely known for years that sellers expected offers above listing. Possible that prices are also adjusting to those expectations.

...the country's economic and political institutions.
Our adversaries now could easily be called the "fossil power" or "fossil capital." I think it's helpful to think that way. ICE raids and climate change are in some sense different issues, but both perpetrated by the agents of fossil power...

Slave Power - Wikipedia
I think we can learn a lot from the abolitionists who talked about the "slave power." As I understand it, the term meant to convey that abolitionists were fighting not just a set of individual slaveowners, but a power structure that had tentacles spread throughout..

Crop yields are down in Guatemala. Will it last?
Plus: the long-awaited decline of fossil fuels? Genius dogs. A no-effort herb preservation method.
In Guatemala, successive years of bad weather have led to stagnation and decline of maize and bean harvests. Is it an aberration, or a new normal fueled by climate change?

Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti
Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti
โWe are heartbroken but also very angry.
Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.
I do not throw around the โheroโ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trumpโs murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.
Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.
Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti.

Does efficient irrigation technology lead to reduced groundwater extraction? Empirical evidence
Encouraging the use of more efficient irrigation technology is often viewed as an effective, politically feasible method to reduce the consumptive useโฆ
The perils of efficiency: more efficient irrigation technology in western Kansas led to more total groundwater being extracted, not less. Once farmers were able to capture more water, they switched to thirstier and more profitable crops.

Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.
