Merry Christmas and happy holidays from all of us at the Ri! π Weβre taking a short festive break so we can come back recharged for the fantastic 200th anniversary series of the Christmas Lectures, supported by CGI!
Join Maggie Aderin-Pocock on 28, 29 and 30 December on BBC Four and iPlayer.
The world may be quite turbulent at the moment, but we can all take at least some solace in the fact that bookstores exist.
Have just seen two pairs of GSWs fly over β I've not seen or heard any in ages, then four appear at once!

It appears to be #flyingantday in Kettering ππͺ°π₯΅
I'm sat in the middle of Kettering and I'm still hearing the very welcome sounds of Swifts calling, and a complaining Wren!
Promises to be more forgiving tomorrow and Sunday
Hoping you managed to cope. I noticed even the various aircon units were ineffective, unless you were sat right next to one π₯΅
The heat beat me today. I had to return home earlier than planned. First Birdfair where I've felt the need to do so, though I've come close in past years. #Birdfair
The Eagle has landed π¦ #Birdfair
Thanks, I've never left it so late for tickets, hard to believe it's just a few weeks away. The ORCA survey sounds like a great alternative π
Finally got my tix for @globalbirdfair.bsky.social π
It's currently, thunderfly and greenfly city out there πͺ°π₯΅
Kings Cliffe is practically on my doorstep... is the area of interest bordering Fineshade Wood at all?
Neither have I.
You are not alone.
I've not spotted any... yet
