View of a floating suspended above the clouds over an unnamed ocean. The platform is curved and tapers out into the distance, it's point terminating in a distant lighthouse. The platform is covered in forests, terraces, rivers, and tall white towers. All the architecture of the platform is built of weathered white stone.
Framing the piece are two towers in far closer perspective, they are built of white weathered stone, massive and hive-like. They are topped by pinnacles of slender design, somewhat gothic or belle-epoque. The towers are covered in overgrown greenery, and the window apertures have stains indicating long long repelling of pouring rains and water.
"Although Greed may writhe below
War and Capital may quake
For the days that remain
This is the promise I make;
None shall fall across this land
Before those winds and fires I stand
And you my child will know no harm
Ascended in my arms
to Elysium"
View of Arm 02 "Abundance." Platform 01, Elysium.

View of a cloud-shrouded city by night. The consists of massive monolithic towers looming over clusters of smaller towers in shadow. The lights of the city illuminate the underside of clouds that pass through the towers. The nights sky is a slate gray illuminated both by aurora and stars.
"With golden hand you built, you raised, alongside humankind redeemed,
A city wrought for hope and joy as none have ever dreamed."

Check out my friend @zenturion.bsky.social who is an incredible artist with an awesome grasp of character and color! They're a great writer and movie buff, and their illustration style hovers tantalizingly between graphic and cinematic!

An illustrated diagram showing how country houses go through cycles of building up and breaking down as humans come and go from them. How through Blood, Sweat, Tears, and Elbow Grease a house is built up, then decays through Condensation, Pollination, Captivation, and Evaporation, aided and and abetted by both the eye of the occult and buried secrets.
How Houses Re-Enchant Themselves
From the essay "The Ecology of The Abandoned Farmhouse" found in Beyond The Fields We Know: An Almanac of Midwestern Prairie Spirits.

The four games I'm thinking of that really capture the current time in the US are not apocalyptic like Fallout, but are nonetheless apt:
Kentucky Route Zero
Night in The Woods
South of Midnight

Title: Blooming Desiderium
The first piece of a Duotycht.
A large gargoyle is crouched on a terrace wall overlooking a landscape of prairie and farm fields. The gargoyle crouches with its head down and its arms wrapped around itself in profile. In one huge claws hand it delicately cups a rose, its petals a color somewhere between pale blue and lilac.
A snarl of rose bramble grows up the gargoyles back, producing similar blooms.
Title: Blooming Desiderium
The second piece of a Duotycht.
High on a ridge a large crumbling house in the early prairie-style grows overgrown and decays. Forlorn bay windows of leaded glass show no light and lonely chimneys stand crooked and without hearth smoke. Below the house a bramble of roses grows, blooming in a pale color between light blue and lilac. In the sky a moon with a wistful ecpfsssjon looks on.

In the grottos of masonry and high up on the chimney stacks of Goblin Hill, the rare Rosa Desiderium blooms the color of deep longing, illuminated only by the moon.

Cause lets be real, none of us can afford VaultTec's apocalypse insurance rates anyways. We all die in the initial blasts. I'd rather unionize Ham Panther and find ways to put down Hard Times Whiskey.

It really is just genuinely horrible. Then those poor kids have to go through the struggle of finding out later who they would rather be, and everything that entails.

The fact of the matter is that despite the diverse tapestry of human existence, most parents are terrified to their marrow that their children won't be "normal", and the scale of "normal" to "weird" encompasses everything from the occasional hyper-fixation to straight-up disabilities.
