Belated merry Christmas to you!
Belated merry Christmas to you!
Merry Christmas Eve!
Oooh! Thanks!!
A walk round the local market
Breaking news, Iβm replacing Paul Mescal in the Broadway transfer of A Streetcar named Desire.
STELLAAAAA
No, sheβs still a light lyric.
Felt cute, will be treated for my delusions later.
Oh, Apple Music π
I bet they feel a right melon.
I didnβt love all the arrangements (particularly the rather astringent arrangement of the Ravel; and given that the chamber group was the Doric String Quartet, we heard relatively little string playing), but Louise Alder was in delectable voice throughout this concert.
Thanks Paul!
I need a bigger bottle of this beautiful scent from Penhaligons
Tonight at @wigmore_hall
Louise Alder, Joseph Middleton and the Doric String quartet perform a lovely programme of FaurΓ©, Ravel and Canteloube
After drinks with work friends.. Steak night with hubby
I may have been slightly tipsy here
Walking through St Jamesβs Park
Westminster Cathedral
Cute!
Casual dress for the office yesterday
And a view of Buckingham Palace from the window
Dandy was in glorious voice and she excelled in both the lighter βWiegenliedβ (a delight), & the moving βScheidenβ. βHerbstgefΓΌhlβ was another highlight, beautifully performed by Pierce & Tindale, the piano part - so reminiscent of Schubert to me - particularly exquisite. π
Though Iβve heard a few Josephine Lang songs in recital before, thanks go to Ian Tindale, Jess Dandy & Rowan Pierce for giving me a much more in-depth understanding of the life & works of this unjustly neglected composer. There were so many gems that deserve to be programmed! π
Tonightβs concert at Conway Hall:
Rowan Pierce replaces an indisposed Harriet Burns, and joins Jess Dandy and Ian Tindale in a programme which mainly features songs by Josephine Lang
We werenβt allowed to take pictures of the small Windrush exhibition in the National Portrait Gallery , but itβs well worth a visit. And hereβs a few more pics from the Gallery.
Amazing to think that an American musical with an all-black cast toured the UK in 1903
Kingston upon Thames
Kudos to the Kingston Choir, Thames Sinfonia, Katherine Crompton & Gareth Brynmor John (the two superb soloists) and conductor Andrew Griffiths for learning this rarely heard repertoire and performing it all with such aplomb!
Seeing some pretty obscure choral music tonight, at All Saints Church, Kingston upon Thames
Christmas market in Trafalgar Square
A wonderful & moving celebration of the music of Herbert Howells, with astoundingly fine singing by the BBC Singers (jaw dropping to think we nearly lost them to the BBC axe this year), directed by Nicholas Chalmers (when Ed Balls didnβt step in!). Thrilling organ playing by Ashley Grote too.
Tonightβs concert: BBC Singers - a Howells celebration
