Authors Beware of scam emails posing as speaker agencies/bureaus. Red Flags to look for: • Promises that are too good to be true • Generic greetings (e.g., "Dear Author") or misspellings • Urgent push to pay quickly; emails sound urgent. • Email domains that don't match the company How to Verify author requests: • Check the sender email address against what the company website shows • Reach out on LinkedIn to the person at the company they are impersonating and ask if they sent the email • Don't click on any links in the email • Send a direct inquiry on the company website to verify what you received Library Speakers Consortium

Authors: Beware of scam emails impersonating speakers agencies/bureaus. At LSC, we’ll never:

1. Ask the author for money
2. Ask the author to send free books without first inviting you for an author talk (and we pay for your time!)
