Andrew Bowser’s Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls is a joyously offbeat, funny, big-hearted indie horror comedy. The craftsmanship on display is remarkable for such a modest budget, with terrific practical effects, sharp cinematography, and a fully committed cast. A total blast.

Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is a joyous, moving tribute to The King, perfectly capturing why he was such a charismatic, once-in-a-lifetime performer.

Finally got around to watching the late, great William Friedkin’s little known final film, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial. An understated masterclass in filmmaking, anchored by an exceptional ensemble. As compelling a courtroom drama as I’ve ever seen. Highly recommended.

A very cool little book from @arrowvideo.bsky.social exploring the making and cultural phenomenon of The Blair Witch Project.

The Great Satan is loud, offbeat, ghoulish funβ€”easily Rob Zombie’s best since Hellbilly Deluxe. With Riggs and Blasko back, it hits even harder.🀘🀘

JASON GOES TO HELL & JASON X are a pair of the boldest, most divisive horror sequels ever. I’ve always appreciated how they take the franchise in fun and fresh directions yet still remain true to the DNA of what came before. These 4K releases from @arrow are the best these films have ever looked.

Robert Duvall was truly one of the best to ever do it. An enormous talent. He’s left behind so many tremendous performances to cherish for generations to come. RIP.

Unrequited love rots in a cycle of destruction and intimate cruelty in Emerald Fennell’s bold and gleefully perverse reinterpretation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. Divisive as this film is, I found it to be a spellbinding, fearlessly performed gothic melodrama.

Johannes Roberts’ ruthless PRIMATE is Cujo by way of Halloween. Lean, dumb, no-nonsense horror fare by a reliable genre craftsman.

In less capable hands, Sam Raimi’s darkly funny thriller SEND HELP would be a disastrous concoction of tones. Fortunately, Raimi and his leads, Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien, are at the top of their game, delivering a tense, gross and non-stop, deviously fun ride.

Last night in Toronto, GHOST put on a masterclass on how to deliver an electrifying concert extravaganza. The live experience doesn’t get a whole lot better than this. Ghost 4 life.🀘🀘 #skeletour

Heartbroken to hear that we lost Canadian icon Catherine O’Hara. Gone too soon especially as she was on an absolute tear as of late. She truly was one of the best to ever do it. RIP.

Been working on a slasher intermittently for over the past 4 years. It underwent 2 different iterations, the latest going from 114 pages to a lean & vicious 83. I finally completed a draft I’m thrilled with. It is a love letter to the subgenre while marching to the beat of its own drum. Stay tuned.

Nia DaCosta’s 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE is a brilliant middle chapter to the trilogy I didn’t know I needed. There’s a mic drop of a sequence that has to be seen to be believed. These films continue to push the zombie/post-apocalyptic subgenre into fresh and compelling places.

ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN remains an exquisite horror comedy. Perfection. It might be the film I’ve watched the most. @kinolorber.com β€˜s 4K restoration is an absolute beauty. A must-get for fans.

The talented Sarah Silva storyboarding a macabre pivotal scene for my next project. It’s pure joy to channel my deep affection for Alfred Hitchcock, Brian De Palma and Dario Argento on this one. Stay tuned. #feature #storyboard #thriller #horror #filmmaking

Josh Safdie’s MARTY SUPREME is hands down the finest, most exhilarating film of 2025. TimothΓ©e Chalamet (backed by a brilliant ensemble) has never been better. A rich, objective character study. A modern masterpiece. Mind sufficiently blown.

Thankfully, Stranger Things 5 sticks the landing with a satisfyingly bittersweet (if safe) finale after a rickety, series-worst lead-up. Issues aside, it’s been a helluva run for this amazing cultural phenomenon.

Pink Floyd celebrate Wish You Were Here’s 50th Anniversary with this superb Blu ray which includes four audio mixes. The 5.1 mix is an absolute stunner. IMO, there has never been a more brilliant string of albums than these three monumental masterworks.

James Cameron’s AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH is yet another spectacular technical feat. Narratively, it’s muddled, overstuffed, and doesn’t explore any significant new ground. Despite being the weakest instalment, it’s still more often than not an awe-inspiring big screen experience.
