Electricity profits rebound to the tune of $890 Million in the first 9 months of 2025 as B.C. claims title as Canadaβs top power exporter! B.C. has been a net exporter of electricity in eight of the previous 15 fiscal years. www.biv.com/news/environ...
annual reminder: Alberta's deficit is a choice.
How many meter base? 1? 2? 3? What size is the service?
Cool to see more of these electric vans about. Hardly a day goes by I don't see one working.
I use a 9v USBC rechargable from temu. They work well for what I use them for.
The Tumbler Ridge newspaper puts it better than I could
It seems money could not buy them happiness.
The City of Vancouver moved away from Chargepoint because their maintenance was so poor & slow. Locally the Tesla installs are great and the electrical utility BC Hydro installs are pretty solid too. The 3rd party ones are pretty hit and miss.
What replaces 5 parking stalls [@lanefab.com :)] & stores 3-5X the energy of water? Phase change material. A solid wax when cold, a thin molasses coloured liquid when hot, every AM when Pacific Center mall cools, it dumps the waste heat in(typically vented 2 atmosphere), & pulls it out in the night
If you like the repurposing of underground parking towards energy efficiency, I've got a project for you.
An AI datacenter in the heart of Vancouver, harvesting the waste heat to heat the buildings on the district energy network. BC Hydro has agreed to supply with combustion free electricity. dailyhive.com/vancouver/15...
There are already high cost solutions in our market of Vancouver. At the same time, if you have access to charging at home that is on your own electrical bill + internet access, you can charge your car for free from 11pm-7am. There certainly is no free gas option.
He is pretty bad. I gave up on apple when people working in the factories making the IPhones were jumping to their deaths. Apple is still so popular despite it all.
When I was born Vancouver BC had over 300 gas stations we now have about 70, only a single station in our downtown core and 3 in the edge area outside the downtown core. Electric vehicles are 25% of new registrations here and growing. 100% of new residential parking is EV ready (Level 2 outlet).
Hell Yes Canada! You love to see it.
Heck yeah! Candians are looking forward to more affordable EV's coming from China! toronto.citynews.ca/2026/02/04/c...
Thanks!
It is working well in Vancouver. But of a bright spot, where larger projects are on hold but triplex through 6 Plex projects moving ahead.
Nice to see someone potentially taking over RAD Power Bikes ebiketips.road.cc/content/news...
Great one. Thank you.
Know any Canadian Load Management hardware manufacturers (make product in Canada). Hardware must handle electric vehicle charging at a minimum but loads beyond that ideal. I know EVECTRIX RVE& FUTURi. Am I missing any? Taranis, the Celtic God of Electricity in a Canadian fit, for visibility and fun.
In Quebec day they made a separation between residential rates and industrial rates. Industrial pays for industrial infrastructure + changes to industrial electrification and load growth don't affect residential rates. Would be nice to see BC do something similar.
BYD gets a head start bringing electric cars into Canada.

Monstrosities? For two years I reviewed every new single family application over 5000 square feet, a number over 10,000sqft, one over 34,000 square feet for a family of 4. I never saw an article calling any of those buildings "monstrosities". It is a wild world.
The future is unwritten. Rates going up over time is likely. BC Hydro rates have increased below inflation for 10+yr. Perhaps we will see a shift to a sort of lower daytime rate, but I suggest that is a 10+yrs away as a possibility. BC is winter peak grid, local solar not so great in winter
That is a cool piece of hardware. My goal is to find an EVSE that will both pay me for the clean fuel credits and for demand response. Combining the two would make the electricity (at the BC Hydro overnight rate) net out to about 1 cent/kWh. The built in load management there is nifty though!
Thanks.I love the concept.I want to combine it with the demand response(DR) incentive. No EVSE does that today, but I am hopeful a Canadian one will soon. For me the DR incentive is worth about 2.5 cents per kWh, so combined with the incentive you mention, you get the electricity for almost free.
It is an interesting concept. In BC the overnight rate is 6.5 cents/kWh. I am planning on solar and can get paid 9.9 cents/kWh for that. So I think I will just charge from 11PM-7AM when the lowest rate is available. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Cool. It looks like they are manufactured in Texas. For me I want to avoid America, but I understand your points.
