I caught the hint of an unfamiliar smell—a sweet scent tinged with the acrid edge of raw iron. The smell of blood. Tamsy was out there somewhere, possibly hurt, lost in the maze of shadows and moonlight, fighting a battle she was too small to understand and too vulnerable to defend herself from the creatures that roamed the forest.
