I think I'm getting close to getting #SHELL-ttrpg to a place where I'm satisfied with it. Hopefully it'll be released in a week or two!

That sounds more like a game/GM issue than the mechanic. Games that use binary success failure can provide the exact same guidance as success range games for handling those situations
