To restore democracy and create a fairer, safer, greener world, we need massive taxes on the ultra-rich. As in the 1940s. People get confused about this. The main purpose of such taxes is *not* to raise revenue. The point is to stop the few dominating the many. It's an essential democratic measure.

The real Brexit story isnβt just politics.
Itβs media power.
For 30 years parts of British press helped create the Brexit narrative.
Now the consequences of that narrative are reshaping the very institutions that promoted it.

Lord Jesus,
you open your heart to all people,
calling us your brothers and sisters,
people made in the image of God.
Prevent us from closing our hearts to others,
from choosing to see our differences
rather than all that we have in common.
May we love as you love.

How do we pay for the NHS, etc. if we don't pay taxes?
This whole argument about tax is that rich people don't need the services most of us rely on and they don't want to pay towards something they don't personally use. The concept of one for all doesn't matter to them.

A despicable decision from Blue Labour's Mahmood. It underminds the very concept of "refuge". It also causes unimaginable mental distress to people already suffering trauma. This only makes sense if you've bought into the far-right conspiracy theory that all refugees are "faking it".

Honored Artist of the USSR since 1970, People's Artist of Ukraine. Pablo Picasso once said after visiting a Prymachenko exhibition in Paris, βI bow down before the artistic miracle of this brilliant Ukrainian. The year 2009 was declared the Year of Maria Prymachenko by the UNESCO. This miracle of colour and invention had her bast shoes planted firmly on the soil of her native land. Maria Aksentievna Primachenko (1908β1997) was a Ukrainian peasant. Her astonishingly fertile picture plane was located in the flat limitless horizon of the Ukrainian steppe. Primachenko lived her life in the village of Bolotnya in the Kyiv region. She contracted polio as a child. Her already empathetic character became heightened into a profound sense of universality that in earlier times might have been seen as almost pantheistic. In the Ukraine of the immediate post-Revolutionary period this would, of necessity, find more nuanced modes of expression. Pigeon and Dove, 1982
