TBH I agree! My first instinct was to make the project fully open submissions, but since there hasn't been a nsfw sylvix project attempt in years I wanted to leave the potential open for a more curated project should the majority desire.
"I love the idea, but I think if you're going to be a non-invite zine, it should be fully open to all! Submitting finished work you're proud of and it getting rejected is way worse than just applying to a zine and not being accepted, you know? There's no real point to it being non-invite otherwise."
"Lastly, I think people may ask if they can make multiple submissions."
I am anticipating this, but want to wait for the results of the interest check and see how wide this project will potentially be before making a call on how many works by one creator will be accepted.
By that logic, what's the point in doing a fanweek? or a big bang? Why can't we all just post works on ao3 and call it a day? What's the point? The answer is 1. To bring attention to it 2. Have it in a private location not on owned servers because even ao3 might one day disappear 3. Offer formatted epubs for stuff that otherwise doesn't get it 4. Potentially provide a zine event for folks who normally don't get to be in one 5. This is how I know I am capable of making this thing come into existence 6. A nsfw sylvix collection already exists on ao3 and you can browse it here: https://tinyurl.com/msmznrxk , but most importantly 7. The point is to have fun.
