“Any decent society has to be built on trust and love, and the intelligent use of information and feelings. Education involves being able to practice those things...to build a decent society that can be nonviolent.” ― Myles Horton

Screenshot of a tweet from Representative Andy Ogles that says: "Muslims don't belong in American society. Pluralism is a lie."
This is disgusting and disturbingly becoming the norm among far-right members of Congress. When elected officials decline to condemn this hatred, it is allowed to fester and grow.
We know we are *all* safer in a pluralistic democracy and must take these menacing, corrosive statements seriously.
We’re remembering the life of a giant in the movement for Palestinian freedom, Walid Khalidi, who passed away at age 100 on Sunday. He was the Honorary President and one of the founders of @palestinestudies.bsky.social

"Today, if you want to honor the strength and resilience of women, remember those of us locked behind these walls. Listen to our words. Demand accountability.
We are still here. No matter how hard they fight to erase or silence us, we will not be forgotten."
To kick off Women's History Month, I'm sharing a booklet that we made for our Radical Black Women of Harlem walking tour. It's free to download and you can organize your own self-guided tours using the booklet. bcrw.barnard.edu/publications... - made this when I was a researcher in residence.

Photo of man with white beard and green beret, red brick wall behind him. Wearing a green feather button.
In face of Red Scare today, we can learn from 5 brave IU students.
They dyed chicken feathers green (not easy) & spread them around IU campus to protest censorship and McCarthyism.
Movement spread nationally.
One of the 5, Bernard Bray, interviewed by ZEP ➡️: www.zinnedproject.org/materials/th...
Bernard Bray, who later taught at Talladega College, said he was inspired to take action based on Baptist Fellowship youth group discussions of burning social issues; influence of hearing from seminarian who was jailed for refusal to participate in WWII; & the religious convictions of his parents.

Trump does unpopular thing in direct violation of a campaign promise, part #976348
It’s not a mystery why his approval rating is 37% and Dems are leading by 10 on the generic ballot in our latest poll. Break enough promises and people start to notice
Four years ago today, Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It has since become the biggest land war in Europe since World War II and Russia now controls about one-fifth of Ukraine's territory.

Then it dawned on me: I was watching a young woman be free.

Mike Spagat's study published in the Lancet estimates the IDF killed 75,200 people in Gaza from October 2023 to January 2025, indicating a 40% undercount by the health ministry.
This is in line with several other studies (eg Max Planck).
A rabbi and pastor in Minneapolis have moved beyond protests. Over the past few weeks, they’ve held two joint prayer services. They are writing a play together. And now they’re jointly raising $1 million. religionnews.com/2026/02/16/b...
Note: DHS has repeatedly claimed the agency "does NOT raid churches."
It's unclear what they mean by "raid," but @rns.org already tracked at least 10 reports *by last August* of apparent federal agents conducting enforcement activity on church grounds or nearby.
There were videos and photos.
I talked with my friend @shaneburley.bsky.social about Nick Fuentes' recent rant about putting women in gulags. How seriously should we take Fuentes, culturally and politically? And what does rhetoric like this reveal about the broader trajectory of the movement he’s trying to shape? We get into it.
