I'm listening, and I'll keep pushing for the urgent action our children deserve. We must do better for our kids' futures.

Wonderful morning at the @parentsforfutureuk.bsky.social Big Climate Breakfast. Hearing directly from local parents, grandparents and children about their climate concerns was powerful. These conversations matter.
On IWD this year the theme is 'give to gain' - thank you to all those working to support women!
I can't let today pass without thanking my mum. β€οΈ Not only has she sacrificed so much to support me but everyday she exemplifies resilience, grit and kindness.
"When women thrive, we all rise."
π What do you think about government support for UK-based tech companies?
ποΈ There will be a debate in Parliament and I would like to ensure the voices of the people driving UK-based tech are heard loud and clear.

π‘ Local people understand the need for housing.
π₯ What they cannot understand is a planning system that takes it away from communities - that doubles housing targets without doubling infrastructure.

Delighted to join Churches Together in Harpenden - a wonderful gathering of church leaders from across the denominations.
A real reminder of the vital role our churches play at the heart of community life in Harpenden. Thank you for the warm welcome!
Victoria Collins, Liberal Democrat MP for Harpenden and Berkhamsted, is calling for the introduction of "hobby hubs" across her constituency, breathing new life into high streets while tackling loneliness and isolation.

"The Liberal Democrats are calling on the government to adopt an infrastructure-first approach to planning. Communities like ours should not have to choose between housing and infrastructure. They need both, planned together, from the start. It's the least our communities deserve."
"How can we tell local people they're sacrificing green belt so their children can afford to buy, when so-called 'affordable' homes at 80% of market value can still cost over half a million pounds?
"Trains are cancelled daily. Buses stop at 2pm in some villages. Roads built for older market towns are now gridlocked. And the average house price in Harpenden is around Β£900,000, with Berkhamsted over Β£650,000.
"The local people of Harpenden, Berkhamsted, Tring, Redbourn & our villages are no NIMBYs [...] What they cannot understand is a planning system that hands power to developers & takes it away from communities - that doubles housing targets without doubling infrastructure.
I will keep pushing for stronger protections for our children and ensure your concerns reach the highest levels of government.
π Fill out the consultation survey here: www.gov.uk/government/c...
Finally, more than a month after launching it, we have details of the consultation.
Please take a few minutes to fill out the consultation. Whether you're a parent, a young person, or simply someone who cares - your response could shape the protections that keep our children safe.
More recently, we've voted for measures to ban harmful social media for under 16s. Our harms-based approach to backed by 42 charities and experts calling for film-style age ratings for social media platforms.
We've also been pushing the government to take action after they launched a consultation.
As Liberal Democrats - we've long been fighting to improve online safety.
Previously, we've voted to ban addictive algorithms for under 16s, voted to ban phones in schools, and called for health warnings on social media.

The UK can't be dragged into another protracted Middle Eastern war by a US President. Keir Starmer needs to rule out the use of UK bases for any future unilateral US strikes.
π Just a few of the things I was up to this week!
Every signature tells Westminster this isn't good enough. The more people who sign, the louder we can make this when it counts.

π‘ Sign our petition to protect Redbourn Village
Top-down planning and government policies have given developers the green light and leave Redbourn exposed to an increase of up to 70%.
They support housing - but are raising the alarm on top-down planning that doesnβt serve local needs, strains local services, fails on transport, and threatens irreplaceable chalk streams found nowhere else in the world.
This week, I secured and led a debate on the impact of planning on local transport and infrastructure.
The people of Harpenden, Berkhamsted, Tring, Redbourn, Sandridge & surrounding villages are no NIMBYs.
These ecosystems exist nowhere else on earth, and we cannot afford to lose them.
Today, I am proud to stand with @pippaheylings.bsky.social and support her bill to give our chalk streams the protection they deserve. The time for action is now.
Our chalk streams are the UK's rainforests - rare, irreplaceable, and under threat π
Harpenden & Berkhamsted are home to 4 of these precious waterways, including the River Ver, which has had nearly 10,000 hours of raw sewage pumped into it since 2021. That's not acceptable.
This approach is backed by 42 charities and experts working to protect children, stop violence against women and girls, and make the internet a safer place.
Young people deserve protection. I'm urging every MP across the House to put children before politics and back our calls.
Today I'm voting to protect under-16s from harmful social media.
We're calling for a harm-based, film-style age rating system that holds tech companies to account, sets a world-pioneering standard for online safety, and tackles the rise of AI chatbots.
The Government must align NHS planning cycles with housing development to ensure communities donβt have to wait months or years to get the GPs they need
Councils should have the power to make planning approvals conditional on securing GP capacity first. In Redbourn, residents wait weeks for appointments, and a proposed 70% housing increase will only make this worse.
