I feel bad when I read people who say they hate writing, especially to the extent they’d let an LLM do it. Writing was the path to making me feel human and the emotional journey of doing it all the time fills me full of purpose. I refuse to believe I’m the only person who feels like this!

We’ve been discussing how to make sure we’re taking care of his mom. If there’s one thing to come out of this, it’s the reminder that I love her so much—she really is my 2nd mom—and I want to spend more time w/ her. She cut my umbilical cord and did so much to shape me into who I am since then.
It’s been a few days since Andi and I spoke at Sawyer’s celebration of life. It was really, really special—as off-beat and delightfully weird as he was. Our mom (who’s a t-shirt screenprinter) recreated our Disneyland shirts for the event, and those shirts are now one of my favorite things ever.

I keep going back to our last conversation, which was about Undertale and Deltarune. We had both played Undertale, but I told him I actually liked Deltarune more. He said he was waiting until all the chapters came out. It sounds stupid, but I’m destroyed I’ll never get to follow up on that.
He died at noon today. Some messaging fell through, and we never got the info about the honor walk, but we will be attending the funeral. I finally reached out to his mom just to say I loved her.

Thanks Caroline. I think I’m mostly afraid of bearing witness to her pain. He’s her only child, & she was with him when it happened. She tried to save him w/ CPR. There’s just something so viscerally horrifying about it; it’s difficult to articulate, other than no parent should have to bury a child.
