Eric Trump and Donald Trump, Jr. are acquiring a drone company that is seeking to meet Pentagon demand after Trump banned the use of Chinese drones.

We’re barely a week into Trump’s war and already his family has found a way to cash in.

Everything is for sale.

‘I wish I could push ChatGPT off a cliff’: professors scramble to save critical thinking in an age of AI As AI has upended the way students learn, academics worry about the future of the humanities - and society at large

www.theguardian.com/technology/n...

Worth a read. This is why I loathe generative AI and refuse to have anything to do with it, in any form. It's making humans even more stupid and lazy, and will ultimately make us obsolete if we don't resist it.

How much more evidence do we need? The ultra-rich and the governments supporting them will destroy everything for the sake of profit, power and pride. Nothing is precious to them - not human life, not the living world - except their own wealth and status. Our survival depends on resisting them.

Excited to see one of my PhD chapters now published! We found a trade-off between the quality of host plants and how warm they were for a declining grassland butterfly (Small Copper, Lycaena phlaeas) and looked at how this shaped their egg-laying choices: doi.org/10.1111/een....

This Rough-legged Buzzard was a surprise find from the roadside near Moffat this afternoon! A smart looking bird and the first I've seen since the Wanlockhead bird many years ago. #BirdingScotland

@markgolley.bsky.social saw this today at Letham Pools in Fife and thought of you Mark. Not particularly bright orange legs and a hint of an orangey hue to the bill. Obvs not a Tundra Bean Goose but have you seen similar in Norfolk before? Excuse the crappy digiscoped shots.

Loose dog incidents force temporary closure of historic nature reserve to the public | Wildlife Trust for Beds Cambs & Northants Conservationists have taken the difficult decision to temporarily close a nature reserve in Cambridgeshire to the public after repeated instances of dogs off leads.

This should not be a "difficult decision".
The clue's in the name - 'Nature Reserve'. They are not places that dogs should be allowed to access.

Following the recent disastrous news about Greenland Whitefront numbers, yesterday's count of 2,423 on Kintyre, including some decent age ratio counts (~12%), was encouraging. Such smart geese 👌 #goosing #birdingscotland

Global economy must stop pandering to ‘frivolous desires of ultra-rich’, says UN expert Olivier De Schutter says new economic agenda needed to tackle crises of rising inequality and ecological collapse

Global economy must not pander to “frivolous and destructive demands of the ultra-rich”.

They fund political parties, profit from socially and ecologically destructive growth.

UK example - deregulation, regressive taxation, concentration of wealth, inequalities, sewage in rivers.

Some of the 11 Taigas at Hoppen Kiln Flash this a.m. Absolutely amazing things, and so close 😃. A bit of variation in bill structure and there's at least one of 'em I'd struggle with if I saw it by itself. One of them was repeatedly shaking it's head, which is a worry😕. #NEbirding
