I will also add its important to model these dynamics:

1) Negotiation space cant be zero sum. A degree of Win-win must be possible.

2) External and internal threats amplify the calculus in a good way.

3) Mechanics must model for trust and flexible decisions. Dont get them in the way of players

I leave it up to the players to do the politicking. I give them the right ingredients for tension:

1) Collective loss condition
2) Personal ambitions (only one can win)
3) Constrain resources
4) Replace Trading mechanics with Trusting (players take actions on anothers behalf)
5) All is negotiable 😊

Three player skanderbeg wargame prototype

Skanderbeg is part negotiation game, part wargame. Think Pandemic, but messy politics, and hard tradeoffs. Easy to play, complex decision space. The 3 player game went great!

Im considering publishing it locally in Kosovo and Albania, and maybe even starting a game design + publishing studio here.

Ready for a 3 player Skanderbeg round. Lets see how this plays!

Players can now ransom captured Ottoman commanders for 💰💰💰.

Resource constrained Skanderbeg utilized this strategy, using the gold to fund his medieval-guerilla resistance.

Putin is our generations biggest asshole and I wish that game would have come out sooner for many reasons.

Part of the revenue would go to Ukrainian demining efforts. They need all the help they can get.

Skanderbeg, the leader of the alliance, has brought together the decentralized and traditionally kingless Albanians under a “Besa”, a blood oath.

Players must cooperate and use their Noble House ties to influence the Northern, Coastal, Central, and Southern Albanian clans into war.

The noble Albanian houses and clans must unite or perish at the hands of the invaders. However, each house seeks to position itself as the dominant seat of power in Albania.

Players lose together, but only one may reign victorious.

Working on “Skanderbeg” a coopetitive game about Albanian resistance against the Ottoman invasion in the 15th century.
