I wanted to buy ALL OF THE COLOURS but realistically I can only knit a maximum of two pairs of socks at once so I will just go back once I run low on yarn again
A skein of βSkein Sisters Fabulous Sockβ yarn. The skein is a bright orange-yellow with patches of blue and green streaking through it
Soooo prettyyyy.
umm actually, neutrality means you're choosing the side of the milk hotel
Tin canβt, but aluminium can!
Yes, that one π
Haha itβs the same book I just had to rewrite it ππ
I plan to reward myself with it once I have a draft again (my writing group made me a better writer so I had to rewrite the book and I am only like 70% there). I only have room for so much BL in my brain at one time, Tina!! My boys take priority ππ
i'm looking to talk to any australian pokemon fans for a piece i'm writing for guardian aus, especially anyone with memories of the first wave of Pokemania in Australia.
hmu!
I definitely will!! I just havenβt yet because I know it will take over my entire brain and I still have a book to write π
I still havent watched it!! I suspect that doing so will rewire my entire brain.
the thing about "separating the art from the artist" is that it comes from academic circles where they were trying to separate an artist's views from an interpretation of their work as an intellectual exercise, not as a way to give people moral carte blanche to support shitty people
Australia probably has its own distinct norms and sociological patterns, but you can still count on three universal truths:
- teenagers take laws very seriously,
- no teen coild possibly outwit a technological defence built by the lowest bidder to a state tender, and
- porn is very easy to define.
Part of Trumpβs mass appeal (and of why heβs so dangerous) is that he really seems to share Joe Barstoolβs worldview that there are no complex problems: Everything has a simple brute solution, which previous leaders were somehow too stupid or weak to deploy.
This is an excellent rule for storytelling but also implies that Philip Pullman witnessed the death of God as a boy.
Lot of people getting excited about these Firefly teaser videos. A couple of things to remember:

Mobius (series, China)
Gripping time-loop story, really fun and dramatic.
10/10
Anyway I was like βHOW DARE YOU NOT LOVE MY SWEET FICTIONAL BABYβ but itβs fine. The group member was working with very little context. And I think the feedback is actually valuable to me. Makes me feel like Iβm writing autism correctly, haha.
Allistic people sure do claim to love Autistic characters when they have insights into the characterβs thoughts and feelings.
That affection doesnβt always extend to real life autistic people.
Alan Sebastian gets upset and shuts down. Group member thought he was deliberately giving my other character the βsilent treatmentβ.
I feel like Iβm getting insights into everything I apparently keep getting wrong in social situations!
When given his POV people think heβs loveable and thoughtful. From the outside, without that context, he appears unkind βmanipulativeβ for justβ¦ reacting to the world and not sufficiently masking or filtering that reaction? Ha ha ha. Yeah thatβs happened to me too.
I donβt always read things from his POV and Iβve been reading Scottβs POV recently and today someone told me he wasnβt sure if he was supposed to like Alan Sebastian or not and said he seems cold, and manipulative.
And isnβt that an Autistic mood.
So when I read Alan Sebastian POV things in my writing group people often tell me how much they love the character, how unique his POV is and how interesting he is and they love how he thinks and sees the world
Every price you pay to fix the situation is worth not going the wrong way, and starting to go the right way.
Melb uni 2nd floor π I was ephant on LJ as well
Oh hi! I know you!

Holy shit
Itβs a big wall of mailboxes for the whole complex. I have told the shop and the building manager to see if they can label the shopβs mailbox with the shop name, at least!
Lovely Runner (series, Korea)
Heard good things about this, and it didnβt quite live up to the hype. Romance was cute, but time travel component didnβt thrill me the way I wanted it to. Still a solid story, but no Twinkling Watermelon.
8/10
I forgot to come back to this. I can make a pretty great pressure-cooker cheesecake. straightforward recipe. Food processor + crockpot. Delicious!
Itβs probably only, like, 20% better than sticking biscoff in lemon-curd flavoured yoghurt though. And a LOT more effort.
