Jesus. Fucking. Christ. This kid wants to get out of detention in time for his school spelling bee. What the fuck are we doing.

The killing of schoolchildren should shock our conscience and cause us to recoil in horror. A nation whose leaders can so easily shrug off the death of children, no matter the cause, is in need of moral repair. There must be accountability and lessons learned from this tragedy. And we must never forget that Iranian children, too, are children of God. 7:08 PM · Mar 12, 2026 · 7,179 Views
Shouldn't be rare to see this said by a US senator
If you will forgive a minor crashout on this point:
When Dems were campaigning in 2024 and said that if Trump were re-elected it would be the end of our democracy I BELIEVED THEM.
And so, I expected them to have contingencies in place for immediate resistance, as Trump had a roughly 50/50 shot.
Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and it’s good she’s gone.
But this doesn’t change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.
I actually think the behavior of the Republicans in the audience has been more noteworthy than Trump’s speech itself.
The braying, boorish jeers and yawps of a party fully given over to fascism.
Yes I think the question of the individual is nuanced but not the issue with the showrunners. And regardless of how blame is apportioned, this was a terrible experience for the presenters, their loved ones, and many others

This looks wonderful, I just signed up!
If you have @manongarcia.bsky.social back on the podcast to discuss that would make me very happy!
This is devastating news, so sorry for you and your colleagues as well as for all of us readers who have looked forward to your reviews for years
hindsight is 20/20 but maybe selecting university presidents on their willingness to debase themselves for private donor money is related to the current difficulties in defending academia from fascism
I have a 3 year old who has Spiderman PJ's he has to wear every night or he loses it. We do laundry around that need. I really can't describe the ways this has radicalized me forever.
I mean does anyone really think the Democratic Party has been too slow to compromise? Isn’t what Duhigg proposed exactly the strategy that lost Harris the last election? Ugh
I just listened to the podcast episode based on this article and I am just dumbfounded that anyone could still think it’s possible to find common ground or “move to the center” in response to MAGA. Just completely out of touch political analysis, very disappointing.
The Catholic Church is calling for defunding ICE. The Episcopalian bishops are all out calling for people to put their bodies in the streets. Make of that what you will.
But yes, this is something to celebrate!!
We must demand more. Release all the detainees. Reunite all the families.
If this is what they do when they're out on the street with people pointing cameras at them, what do you think is happening inside the ICE prison camps that they keep denying Members of Congress access to?
That’s a great one
Trafficking the boy after using him as bait, pinning someone in the snow to spray into their mask, shooting Marimar Martinez, murdering Renee Good—Bovino and Miller are asserting the right to harm anyone they want. The only acceptable response is to make sure they can no longer harm anyone at all.
If you have read even a single history of fascism, you are already aware that one thing that its rise has in common in every case is an opposition party that refuses to intervene for fear of looking weak or putting the left into power
So far, I am only seeing TPM, Mediaite, and Daily Beast focusing on this.
We live in a world where the president calling an ethnic group "very low IQ" and "bad for our country" while insisting they "ought to get the hell out of here" barely makes headlines. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/trump-m...
I’ve been playing You Must Believe in Spring on repeat for my kids’ bedtime music the last few nights and he was such a genius
This is so disturbing. I just opted out of facial recognition at TSA—really infuriating to hear this could happen at the gate. Thanks for reporting on it
Starting a new project in 2026: trying to drink a coffee in as many Seattle neighborhoods as I possibly can.
Seattle's coffee scene is truly one of my favorite things about this city and this will be a great excuse to fully explore it.

Only 3 Republicans in the House (4 vacancies) and 20 Republicans in the Senate are needed to impeach, REMOVE, AND CONVICT Donald Trump. Only 23 People – 23 people MUST summon their courage and do the right thing.
Even if he lowered costs, it wouldn’t justify the violence of his administration at home and abroad
Omar: "We have a president itching to have a riot in the city so that he can invoke the Insurrection Act. That is not something that we want. We want to make sure that he's not going to use the anger MN residents feel after they watched their neighbor get shot in the face to bring about more pain."
I just resubscribed to Ezra’s show on the strength of his interviews with John Ganz and Jonathan Blitzer—really disappointed to see him return to platforming rightwing figures. This isn’t who we need to be hearing from right now, or at least it’s not someone I care to listen to.
