Walking around the edge of Tonbridge castle grounds. Windy!
A blustery outlook with Octavcat this morning, enjoying the busy electronics of their Ailurophobia album #commuterworld

Sting - If I Ever Lose My Faith In You
Still my pick of Sting's solo output, with a chorus that packs an emotional punch...especially from 3'17" when a clever key change is worked in. Subtly powerful

Day 10
Oasis - Some Might Say
I love the confidence Oasis have just to let the music play out with no vocals, and when Liam's euphoric whoop ushers in the guitar-led coda there's nothing left to say!

Cherry blossom by the river in Tonbridge
A blooming good walk with Joachim Spieth, and the surrounding ambience of his Vestige album #commuterworld

Day 9
The Adventures - Broken Land
A lot of love for this late 80s radio classic, peaking with its anthemic chorus, before the penny whistle and pipes arrive at 4'07":

Yes, looks really interesting. Great to see the Naxos recordings of Douglas Lilburn getting some airtime, a really fine composer on that evidence!
Well worth listening to this...including a rare piece by Arnold Cooke, who lived a couple of miles from where I type
You're right - the chorus hook got in my head. 'The Pass' is cracking!
Cutting through a shortcut near to Tonbridge high street
A misty start, returning to Alexis Taylor's new one Paris In The Spring - which I'm liking a great deal #commuterworld

Day 8
BjΓΆrk - Hyperballad
I chose the album edit, so the sublime strings from 4'08" can be fully appreciated. Surely one of BjΓΆrk's best radio-friendly songs:

Day 7
Frank Sinatra - Strangers in The Night
Altogether now: "Do be do be do...."

Completely agree. Van Helden was unstoppable for a few years there!

Armand van Helden feat. Duane Harden - You Don't Know Me
One of the best dance tracks has one of the best endings, right from when Duane hits the high note around 3'20". Peerless!

A tall conifer close to River Lawn Green, Tonbridge
Listening to Hot Chip singer Alexis Taylor, and his new self-titled album with guests including Scritti Politti. Good vibes for a Friday! #commuterworld
Totally agree - I was obsessed with it for a few weeks in the late 80s, having heard it on Tommy Vance's show. Paint It Black a storming track if I remember rightly!

Day 5
Rush - Red Tide
From the fine Presto album...the poppier side of Rush, up to subtly progressive tricks. "Let us not go gently into the endless winter night!"

Here's a deep dive I did for @prestomusic.bsky.social, on a fine and varied set of chamber music from Eloquence: www.prestomusic.com/classical/ar...
Great to see - and a fine program to celebrate!
A breezy travel recommendation from the Wirral - Pass It On, by The Coral:

Day 4
Tom Jones - Thunderball
Of all the James Bond songs I think this is my favourite - the whooping horns, the furtive strings...all capped by Tom's incredible vocal. The final note and storming coda under John Barry are incredible. What a powerhouse!

This is really excellent news, the latest in a line of excellent LPO conductor appointments...really looking forward to the musical results

Day 3
Linkin Park - Crawling
I was knocked out by this song when I first heard it, especially the bit late on (from 3'05") where the verse dovetails back into the chorus. Still an exceptional album!

Looking out over the A21 Tonbridge bypass on the approach to Leigh
Looking south from the train with music from kwes. - some lovely immersive ambience on his Kinds album on Warp Records #commuterworld
Extraordinary. I tried playing some of the Op.11 set once, I didn't last long!
Was Scriabin anticipating streaming, I wonder? 45 preludes on a single album!

Day 2
Fleetwood Mac - The Chain
Timeless...and still close to pole position. The thrilling bass line run from 3'04" never loses its edge!

Tonbridge Racecourse Sportsground, looking west, with flood waters nearly drained at last!
A bright outlook to start the week with the beats of Octavcat, their new one Ailurophobia (which ironically means fear of cats!) #commuterworld

in no particular order...
Morrissey - Dagenham Dave
Harmonically a bonkers song, but I've always had a soft spot for it. The coda, from 2'39", heads off in all sorts of directions but somehow makes sense by the end!

Started assembling some songs for the #ExitMusic challenge through March, have found some surprising candidates!
Wow, that's rather special!
