Our argument complements research on trust as a resource for resolving conflicts. Shared experiences in managing conflict can foster bonds and align expectations, stabilizing relations over time. "Trust in conflict" helps understand cooperation in an increasingly fragmented international system. 4/5
Conflict involves high-stakes decisions with uncertain outcomes. It helps actors learn about their own and their counterparts' interests and identities. It fosters social bonds through shared experiences of managing conflict. In short: conflict can be an opportunity for social learning. 3/5
The forum challenges the traditional assumption in International Relations that trust and conflict are opposites. Rather than viewing trust solely as a resource for resolving conflicts, we explore the conditions under which trust can actually emerge within international conflict itself. 2/5

I argue that practice theory, with its focus on relations, processes, and agency, offers a unique perspective on the problem of trust in IR, and explore different options for studying trust in practice-theoretical terms. 2/3
