Outcast was probably the first for me that really fit the bill. Between the soaring music and the sense of freedom - after a small tutorial area, you're basically free to roam wherever you want - it's the first time I remember feeling like I was really inhabiting another world.

I'm so bummed that I not only threw out all those nice PC game cardboard boxes when I moved out decades ago, but also progressively got rid of actual discs because "I have it on digital now."

In the two years since this skeet, I've probably bought around 40 movies and TV shows on Blu-ray and 4K, although about half of them are repurchases of DVDs I already owned. But it's just nice.

I'll realistically never be able to rebuild my video game collection the same way.
