Definitely a filmmaker to savor for a lifetime of viewing, for sure.

Varda was so prolific that there's lot of her work I haven't seen yet (though I do have the Blu-ray complete works) and somehow I've seen almost everything on your recommended list!
Kind of like I keep giving Godard a chance, though, usually at least one unseen film of his a year. He keeps meeting my expectations of me not liking his work. I'm trying to be open minded!
It's hard to muster enthusiasm to see the rest when there are so many other worthy things to see
I'm just trolling with that reply, but but actually I've only seen Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a time. I'll probably eventually try to see his other features, but I really hated OUATIH despite his many filmmaking strengths.
So you haven't seen any of his movies I guess...
[runs away, ducking]
Broke: Star Wars predicted all of this.
Woke: Dune predicted all of this.
Bespoke: The Silmarillion predicted all of this.
A list of 24 additional films mentioned in the comments on the 100 Film favorites list: boxd.it/T8Vv8
Finished reading this compilation of essays and interviews from late in Kurosawa's career.
There's also a list of 100 of the director's favorite films with commentary compiled by Kurosawa's daughter. She lived with him and worked with him on his films during the last couple decades of his life.
Carmela Soprano says she will stop by Borders on her way home to get a book.
That's a flashback. How long has it been since they entered "witness protection"?
Just started Season 5 of the Sopranos (first time watch through for me) and the Wives Movie Club is definitely the funniest bit of TV I've seen in a really long time.
And on Hulu, weirdly enough, in the US!
So sorry you are facing that. Buy from his site!
โฆI'm thinking I need to do better. It's spring break, so I have a week to come up with something new. I might do a mini unit on Iranian cinema, I'm thinking. The more students I can get to stop and think about who the people are that we are bombing right now, the better.
I teach a film class for high schoolers, and I have a few units that I can kind of swap in and out. A lot of them end up centered around classic Hollywood, for various reasons, and in one semester there's only so much diversity I can achieve from the whole history of world cinema, but...
lol
Kristi Noem is another striking example of why South Dakota should not be a state.
De-statify and combine AT LEAST SD, ND, Montana, and Wyoming.
The fact that these are separate states destabilizes our political order.
Thanks, I can get it to come up on Amazon, for an expensive delivery to the US. Was hoping to get from a different source possibly. ๐
Can this be obtained in the United States?
What's that you say? The Prisoner??

Interestingly, this master shot, which is one of the first images you can find on a Google image search, is not in HEAT. It's a well-used production still, but the film goes straight into a series of ever closer framed over the shoulder shot/reverse shots.
Shit, to be specific
Have you noticed, everything seems pretty bad
