I used to defend the town and say it had nice bits, but the council and the college have worked overtime the last 20 years to ensure they were fucked over. The town could have embraced what Clevedon and Portishead did, but it went in a Thanet / Clacton direction instead.
It’s been so long since I was there that I know it’s changed immeasurably. When I was there it’s not like crowds would descend into the town for hijinks after races because there was nothing there. Or at least, nothing still open. It was a sad ghost town during my stay…thanks, Tories.
