I just… building out NPCs, their behaviors, dialogue logic, relationships, and all that… it’s so much fun to me. If you’re building an interrogation game without handling the interrogation yourself, then why the fuck do you exist at all?

Plus it’s very blustery and loud!
Pilot. They design their bathrooms for truckers and everyone else’s bathrooms suck by comparison.
Death, taxes, and your cat barfing on the carpet instead of the hardwood.
On a clear day, Eugene rose and looked around him and, regrettably, saw who he was.

Totally. Maniac Mansion being used here sent me spiraling back to my middle school lunch table where me and this kid I barely knew compared literal notes on the game.
Good morning! Yes, this is he

It’s a miniature “Ark of the Covenant” made of brass. Fits in the palm of your hand. You lift the lid to find the log sheet within.
Found a “Raiders of the Lost Ark” themed geocache but sadly my face didn’t melt off when I opened it.
Eep! My next book has a cover, and it’s the eerie Gothic gorgeousness of my dreams. It’s also available to request on Netgalley and Edelweiss! Here are some of the tropes you’ll find inside. Which one is your favorite? I’m a big fan of men facing consequences, personally.
Used to see other troops at summer camps being marched around in full uniform all the time and felt bad for those kids.
My scout troop (I’m an Eagle, bitches) was all military families and it actually was great because the last thing any of the parents wanted was to militarize anything about the experience.
It’s going to be 60 degrees here tomorrow. I should go find a geocache. I haven’t found a geocache in months.
That’s really cool, Cameron!

"thin places" are locations where the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds is said to be particularly thin.
Share a pic of the tower you made!
Yo! I have a guide for Madness in Murderworld should you ever return to that bad game (you shouldn’t): blog.patientrock.com/20130414x-me...
I don't know what game this is, but importing the Space Marine 2 character models into it was genius.
Building a crossword where all the answers are abbreviations just to funnel my hate into something.
I needed a break from interactive fiction for a little while but jumped back in to finally play the IFComp winner Detritus, by Ben Jackson. I really like how clean and confidently it implements Twine and it has my brain buzzing: ifdb.org/viewgame?id=...
Too much talking, not enough doing.
(I really gotta use a different screen recorder. Unity’s stinks.)
Got my core loop implemented! Can cut grass and swat incoming biting flies. A million, billion more things to do.

DMV game developers! The library system has been thrilled by how well you show up and wanted to do more events with us. We’re going to visit different branches throughout the year. Come show your games!
With apologies for what is going to be a fairly long thread: I thought it might be fun to look back at the favorite articles I wrote, by year.
Note, this isn't necessarily my favorite ARGs / experiences? It's more focused on writing I'm particularly proud about.
The dream: games don’t have to be forever and the people who make them get to live to make the next one.
The Interactive Fiction Database Awards for games released in 2025 are open for voting!

🚨 Seems a good reason to play my game, Murderworld, and see if it's worth a vote in something! patientrock.itch.io/murderworld
I actually think it works great. It was more jarring that he was suddenly wearing a shirt. For that part, maybe his arms can be raised and moving downward like he just finished putting it on while off camera.
