On the campus where I work, I'd say the folks using generative AI most noticeably are young early career scientists (I work mostly with engineers). Many of the grant applications drafts I see are *brutal* - just littered with ChatGPTs vacuous doublespeak.

That little “Can you spot the AI writing?” quiz in the NYT is not a challenge. It is manufactured consent. They are trying to build a case. “See? 65% of people like AI better.” Or “40% can’t tell the difference.”
They want a number to help convince you that art has no value. Don’t give it to them.
I didn’t have to use ChatGPT to know it tells you that you’re right even when you’re wrong. I’ve talked to people about their LLM usage, read reporting and studies about it, and seen what people have shared online. The idea that you HAVE to use something yourself to critique it is not always true
