One of my least fav design patterns in games that's shockingly pervasive is "punishing" bad gameplay via tedium rather than failure. Devs realized that they can make games more casual friendly if the failure state is just a type of "winning slower" rather than losing, as a consequence even action -

Maybe? I'm not sure what starts it, but it's annoying. At least in this case it seems to be an easy fix.

There are games that I've had in QR for weeks at a time with no issue, so it's kind of a case by case basis, but its definitely the first thing i'll think to check from here out at least.

I went back to the same trail area, and while there were minor frame drops it's so much better now 🤷🏻♂️. It was in the single digits at times yesterday.
I don't know why, but if you are having graphical issues (Xbox or PS5) that weren't present before, start by shutting down and rebooting the game.

So I rebooted the PS5 which made me reboot the game and it is a night a day difference.
Not sure if its another UE5 thing, but damn, it's playing correct now.
I've had issues on Xbox as well with the Quick Resume feature (not all games). I guess I'll just always restart games to be safe.

Fan art for Pokémon Z A side by side with trailer art for Pickmon. Yikes
We have derpy Pikachu at home.
Was everything done with AI? It's wild how blatant it is.
There are artists showing their side by sides of their fan art stolen.
I don't play or know 99% of Pokemon characters and cant really say what's what, but that's obviously Pikachu "at home" and a goofy Link clone.

I'll try later today, but a thing I've noticed on both ps5 and Series X, the "quick resume" seems to mess with games. On Xbox you can QR 2 games, and PS just the game you're playing
Anyway, if I use it multiple days in a row, I've noticed issues.
I'll restart the system & game later, can't hurt, 🤷🏻♂️

Yeah, uhg.
It's just so strange that it's happening in places I've been through multiple times, with no issue. Specifically these trial areas.
The "sizzling" on textures definitely seems like an UE5 thing and is somewhat common, but i haven't had the other issue in almost 20 hours of gameplay?

In hallways, with no enemies, it was bouncing between 59 and 47fps so quick that VRR couldn't keep up. It's very distracting.
The "sizzling" that happens with textures in UE5 games is pretty common, with blobby shadows like Switch1 games, UHG
Once again, when it's working, the game is pretty great.

I'm really enjoying Romeo is a Deadman, but out of nowhere the performance is all over the place. I don't know if it's UE5, but challenge areas (earn upgrade materials), that I've been through with no issue, were basically slideshows (literally dropping below 10fps)WTF? Super disappointing #blutoid

With my luck it would be deck builder puzzle game with microtranactions, ha.
Definitely looking forward to Onimusha. Capcom has been rolling lately.

Never thought I'd see a new Tokyo Xtreme Racer. Do I chance the monkey's paw and wish for a new Way of the Samurai?
Katana Kami (the isometric one from like 6 years ago) doesn't count.
It's one of my favorite series from the PS2&3. I'd love a true revival. #blutoid #wayofthesamurai

I guess this explains why I'm always complaining about bad HDR in games and films.

Yeah, I can't realistically say it's anywhere near Forza Horizon level (probably the best reason to still have an Xbox SX and I'll get 6 day 1... i know its coming to PS, but it's at a "later date").
TXR is very niche, but I'm perfectly in that crowd, lol.

I've only raced 5 rivals. Lost 1, won 5.
If you liked the older games (TX, TX2, TXzero) you know what this is.
Doubt I get as obsessed as I did then, but I'm stoked to play more.
I'll take a break to finish Romeo is a Deadman & will intermittently be playing this in spurts. I'm very happy with it

I haven't noticed any frame drops. It really isn't pushing the PS5 though. The environments being all "samey" and dark, plus not a lot of traffic always worked in its favor.
I personally love it--the pulsing lights in the tunnels is my favorite. GT7 has a similar area and it's my favorite there too

It's finally time! Waited a long time and still never thought I'd see another Tokyo Xtreme Racer. Takes me back to Dreamcast days.
Installing now.

Shinobi, specifically for Master System, started my love for action games.
Gradius for the NES started my love of horizontal shmups.
Raiden, arcade, similarly started my love of vertical shmups.
Street Fighter 2 on Genesis was special because it was amazing to have such a big game at home.

I did the thing. These are some of the games that shaped my tastes and opinions of games growing up. So they're all old.
I consider these the progenitors of genre love for me, not the best.
ex: Wolfenstien isn't as good as Doom, but it blew my mind in 1992 and started my love for FPS games #blutoid

I had a buddy working at ToysRus and played a Halo demo before launch and immediately pre-ordered.
About a week after launch he won an Xbox and 3 games from a TacoBell contest.
He sold it to me for $100 off full price and threw in Project Gotham and DOA3. He kept Fusion Frenzy. I loved the OG Xbox.

For example, if you are in the middle of an attack, you can't break and instantly do a different move--like Bayonetta.
Doesn't mean bad, just specific. More like purposeful beat em ups (Final Fight, SoR).
It kinda reminds me of Wanted: Dead.
It's definitely not for everyone, but I'm enjoying it.

The start screen is crazy. Impossible to show in these images
This is the difficulty selection screen
The sheer amount of different art styles is all over the place. I really appreciate how much went into this production, especially in this time when a lot of devs would phone it in with AI slop.
Not here. They went all in on this game. Respect
Yup, that pretty much sums it up.
I guess I'm a "Sick Bastard", lol
It's crazy as hell, even down to the start screen and difficulty settings. It will definitely turn some people off, but I live for this shit!
Hopefully it can keep somewhat close to this insane pace without getting dull.
Regardless, I'm down for the experience 💯
The devs are maniacs, lol.
